Rick Perry Pushes Against ‘Political Correctness’ in New TV Ad

In a new television ad to be aired in Iowa today, Texas Gov. Rick Perry characterizes himself as the outsider and truth-teller who will put aside “political correctness” to overhaul Washington, D.C.
“Washington is the capital of political correctness, where double speak reigns and truth is frowned upon,” Perry says as he looks directly into the camera. “You can’t say that congressmen becoming lobbyists is a form of legal corruption or that we give aid money to countries that oppose America. Or that Washington insiders are bankrupting Social Security. You and I know it’s true, but not politically correct. I’m Rick Perry, an outsider who will overhaul Washington and tell you the truth.”
Perry’s new ad, the latest in the campaign’s million-dollar advertising push in the final weeks before the Iowa caucuses, comes the day before he begins a 42-city bus tour through Iowa Wednesday.

How does he propose to do this? The only way to end the legal, institutionalized corruption of lobbyists’ money hijacking the government is to amend the constitution, but for Rick Perry and his lobbyist friends, THAT is not politically correct. He’s just rounding up the frustrated-gullible and will then pass them off to whomever the nominee is; and that is the LAST anyone will hear about lobbyists.
It is beginning to look like we have ‘Team Nominee’ this year with the Republicans. Have the bottom feeders hook the base and then pass them off to the moderate so he doesn’t have to deal with contradictions later on in the general election. The persistent internet record no longer allows those kinds of shenanigans by an individual candidate. That’s one of the reasons Obama won. He never crossed himself up on policy statements. A lesson apparently not lost on Republicans this time around.

Actually following the Constitution and never voting against it will work just fine

And, this is exactly why I am voting for him in the Iowa caucus.

No, that is not a reason Obama won. Everyone interviewed in Harlem after the election could not explain a single thing of Obama’s policy. Nothing. Then when asked if they support Obama because, then the interviewer purposefully said the most hard lined conservative policies as Obama’s, these people agreed.
So don’t give me policy is why he won when it is beyond crystal clear that it didn’t.

So you contend that ignorant Black voters in Harlem voted for Obama solely because he’s Black.
Would you also say that ignorant redneck Southern white voters voted for McCain and Pain strictly because they were white?

Go ahead and vote for him, Richard Iowa, He still won’t win.

Ang…had Obama made the time honored move of saying one thing to appeal to the base in the primary and saying something else more centrist during the general election, the opposition would have made a 30 second commercial in 15 seconds and run it on TV and u-tube, as was done against many other candidates. That’s the point. If you want to be two different people at two different times, then you actually need two different people in today’s world. Unlike the good old days when Reagan, who was a master at it, would run right and then cut to the middle to score touchdown after touchdown.
As for Harlem you make no sense except to show your own personal outlook with respect to race.

Right wingers need to stop blaming all of the country’s problems on the poor and blacks. The ‘handouts’ to poor and blacks make up a tiny tiny tiny fraction of our debt. That there are poor has nothing to do with no jobs. That wallstreet willingly, knowingly, packaged up bad mortages and lied, sold them as AAA securities, than then went bust, has nothing to do with poor people. It’s not hard to hand a document to someone who doesn’t understand it and chuckle under your breath knowing in six months their interest rate will be 3x what it is now, and that you’ll be getting that property back. I’ts really not hard to fool someone who doesn’t know better. The question is, why were there no rules about doing such a thing, and why did people then take those bad loans, package them, and sell them. Why is that legal, and no F&F didn’t do that, F&D BOUGHT those securities. Private investment firms and hedge funds made the ‘securities’ that they KNEW were bad. ALL that was done in the PRIVATE sector and THAT was what killed the economy. Had the loans gone bad, by themselves, we’d be fine. Thta’s would have been nothing more than a blip. It was the thousands upon thousand of derivatives bought hedging those ‘securities’ that caused the melt down, that and holding no capital in your bank and investment institution – all rich white guy stuff – corruption stuff, dishonesty stuff, white collar crime thievery stuff. Blacks and poor people aren’t responsible for where we are. Corrupt knowledgable rich white guys are. fact.

I’ve already had my fill of dimwitted Texas Governors thank you!

Not ur average Joe: Why IS that legal indeed. Because it’s OK for the wealthy to make their money, MANY times by SCREWING people and then they say that THEY’RE upstanding citizens just because they have money AS IF THEY ACTUALLY EARNED IT HONESTLY!!!!

NOT UR AVERAGE JOE | DECEMBER 13, 2011, 10:02 AM…Well said. It’s good to know that there are many voters who understand the facts of the meltdown, and therefore understand what it will take if ever the institutionalized corruption is to be cleaned out. It’s a tough message though. That is because it isn’t simple to explain and it is loathed by the powerful lobbyists on capital hill.

Okay, if we go along with speaking outside of political correctness, Rick Perry has gotten by on his looks and charm; this is how he won the Texas governorship. The ignorant Texans think he is presidential material; he is not by a long shot. The man doesn’t even know how many Supreme Court Justices this country has for goodness sake! Surprisingly, I agree with him on certain topics. The lobbyists of this country need to be stopped. Political cronyism with financial industry lobbyists is what got this country into the mess it is in today. The fact that corporations dominate fund raising for candidates is why John Q Public currently has no voice. Social Security and Medicare will not go bankrupt if the government will quit pilfering money from these funds for other uses. Raising taxes on the wealthy and funneling money to fight fraud will stop the bleeding for these two necessary entitlement programs. In addition, putting together a oversight group that monitors doctors and hospital overcharging for senior citizens medical needs is also necessary to keep Medicare in the black. As long as the Republican Party leaders spout that taxing the wealthy is ‘class warfare,’ they will never get my vote for ANY Republican candidate.

It’s not the Poor or Blacks it’s the power brokers in Washington and Rick Perry is putting them on notice. He’s also putting Congress on notice.
And I’m sorry, we’re working here in Texas, under his leadership, Texas has made 42% of the jobs since 2000 and we’ve passed Tort Reform here in Texas.

“Rick Perry is putting them on notice”…that he will do what? The SCOTUS says that money is free speech and that corporations have a right to free speech like people do. Not Rick Perry, Congress, nor the POTUS can pass laws limiting free speech, as now defined for us by the SCOTUS under it’s recent Citizens United ruling, which is what addressing the problem of lobbyists legislatively would need to do. The fix is in, big time. That’s why it is all legal. The only answer is a Constitutional Amendment. Rick Perry is not advocating a Constitutional Amendment. I’m not holding my breath that he will, but if he did, I would vote for him even though he does not know how many Supreme Court justices there are.

Rick Perry is definitely the quintessential Come-Back Kid. He was GREAT on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace and spoke with confidence and knowledge about all the issues, in spite of old Chris trying to get a “Gotcha.” It’s time for conservative voters to coalesce around the only truly viable candidate, and that’s Rick Perry. He will get better in these crappy debate formats, and he will ultimately defeat Obama.
Welcome back, Governor! Perry – 2012

I like that Rick Perry tells it like he sees it. He is obviously not intimidated about much of anything. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned about his debate performance. But his record is enough to get my vote (HPV decision excluded!)
