The Presidential Planner: Obama Discusses End Of Iraq War

Today President Obama will discuss the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq in a series of  interviews with stations from Norfolk, Va., Pensacola, Fla., Colorado Springs, Colo., and Seattle.

"As we definitively end America's war in Iraq this month, the president will talk to anchors from television stations that have large military communities in their markets to discuss the enormous sacrifices and achievements of the brave Americans who served in the Iraq War, and he will speak about the extraordinary milestone of bringing the war in Iraq to an end," according to the White House.

The interviews come the day after the president met with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki at the White House to discuss the next chapter in the U.S. relationship with Iraq. Wednesday, the president will travel to Fort Bragg to speak to troops about the end of the war.

In today's interviews, the president is also expected to discuss with the ongoing fight with Republicans to extend and expand the payroll tax cut before the year-end deadline.

Later this morning, the president will attend a campaign event in Washington.
