Longstanding tension between Republican Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and Democratic President Barack Obama flared into the public spotlight today just after Air Force One touched down in Phoenix.

Brewer, who was on the tarmac to greet Obama, hand-delivered a letter before engaging the president “intensely” for several minutes, including pointing her finger directly at him, according to Politico’s Carrie Budoff Brown, acting as a pool reporter for other media outlets.

Accounts from both camps later said the terse talk focused on Brewer’s book — “Scorpions for Breakfast: My Fight Against Special Interests, Liberal Media and Cynical Politicos to Secure America’s Border.”

The book, which was released in November, describes a June 2010 Oval Office meeting between Obama and Brewer aimed at diffusing conflicts surrounding Arizona’s controversial state immigration law and the administration’s immigration policy.

At the time, the White House called it a “good meeting,” while Brewer’s staff said it was “cordial.”

But Brewer paints a much different picture in her book.

Brewer complains in “Scorpions for Breakfast” that she and her staff were treated coldly by White House aides, prevented from taking pictures in the holding room outside the Oval Office and that their cell phones and cameras were  “confiscated” by Secret Service.

“Too bad we weren’t illegal aliens, or we could have sued them,” she writes.

During her meeting with the president, Brewer said Obama was “condescending” and professorial, “lecturing” on his efforts to promote comprehensive immigration reform.

“It wasn’t long before I realized I was hearing the president’s stump speech,” she said. “Only I was supposed to listen without talking. Did he care to hear the view from the actual scene at the border? Did the opinions and observations of the people of Arizona mean anything to him? I didn’t think so.”

“He was patronizing,” she said. “Then it dawned on me: He’s treating me like the cop he had over for a beer after he bad-mouthed the Cambridge police, I thought. He thinks he can humor me and then get rid of me.”

Obama raised his objections to Brewer’s account face-to-face with the governor today.

“He was a little disturbed about my book,” Brewer told reporters after the meeting broke. “I said to him that I have all the respect in the world for the office of the president. The book is what the book is. I asked him if he read the book. He said he read the excerpt.”

Obama told Brewer ”that he didn’t feel that I had treated him cordially,” Brewer said. “I said I was sorry he felt that way but I didn’t get my sentence finished.

“Anyway, we’re glad he’s here. I’ll regroup,” she added.

A senior administration official later told reporters that Obama’s comments were in response to Brewer’s request for another one-on-one meeting.

“The governor handed the president a letter and said she was inviting him to meet with her. The president said he’d be glad to meet with her again, but did note that after their last meeting, a cordial discussion in the Oval Office, the governor inaccurately described the meeting in her book,” the official told reporters, on condition of anonymity.

Brewer, who said in her letter to Obama that she wanted to discuss “Arizona’s comeback” with him, did not attend the presidential event at a Phoenix factory today. But she did make several subsequent media appearances to talk about her tarmac encounter.

In an interview with KFYI radio in Phoenix, Brewer said Obama was “somewhat thin-skinned and a little tense, to say the least.”

“I was very surprised.  I was taken aback.  I really was,” she said.  “I was shocked by the sternness of it all.”

I wouldn’t trust Jan Brewer’s version of the exchange – she couldn’t possibly be self serving could she? Not a politician! Also, any decent reporting would get more than one side of the story.

This president and his criminal friend Eric Holder are a psychiatric case study of mendacity. So Arizona asks for help with the wave of great danger from the lawless drug gangs so the Obama administration PUTS UP SIGNS, and then files a lawsuit against Arizona to stop their laws to try to maintain LAW AND ORDER!! Ha, the Democrats are the party of Destruction. Obama is devastating to our country and he is God’s judgement on us for twisting Israel’s arm to give land to the PLO terrorists. Go get’em Jan. Good job. Please tell us if you saw eyeballs of peace and leadership? or eyeballs of a mafioso?

OK so Obama gets off the plane in AZ and immediately gets in Jan Brewer’s face, hollers at her, then walks off while she is responding. Obama is an intimidating, in-your-face thug (remember his speech “get in their face”? Oh, wait a minutes, that would be something conveniently left unreported by the MSM. Mrs. Brewer points finger violently at Mr. Obama. I know that Mr. Obama handles these angry encounters very well, having survived Mrs. Clinton wrath and continued to survive Mrs. Obama.

My family recently spent 3 months in the US West and Southwest, enjoying Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. We intentionally avoided Arizona because of the Governor and her policies. I am sure that the other states were happy to have our money. As long as Brewer is Gov and Arizona has the draconian immigration laws we will stay away!

I am amused that people here are “upset” over the perceived disrespect shown by Gov. Jan Brewer towards Obama. Well, Obama is in the employ of the American people. We have “hired” him. He has repeatedly disrespected State’s rights as regards ILLEGAL border crossing from Mexico to the U.S. (Arizona, Texas, California). Obama has turned a blind eye to Eric Holder’s role in GIVING WEAPONS to the Sinaloan Mexican Cartels……and a U.S. border agent was killed. Obama has waged class warfare by promising more government goodies to his sycophants and kool aid drinkers while pillaging the small business owner and decimating the middle class.

Obama has no class. Yes, he is our president, but not for much longer. He will be out in 2012. Remember, respect is EARNED. Obama believes it is only a one way street….disagree with tDear Leader and suffer him snubbing you or refusing to meet with you at all (Republicans, during health care debates)

You are missing some fine scenery. But thats ok- I know how you feel., It is wrong for anyone to try and enforce the borders, why the nerve of those people! Evryone in the world should be able to come here and wander round, sell drugs, do whatever they like and we should be able to do the same thing-yet we can’t-we would be escorted to the border with a swift kick in the rear.

Obama has turned a blind eye to Eric Holder’s role in GIVING WEAPONS to the Sinaloan Mexican Cartels”

Whats sad about that incident is that weeks before we had the congress cheering the mexican president for saying our gun laws needed enforced and there they were knowingly selling guns to criminals, the criminals then using them to kill massive amounts of people in Mexico and then the border agent.

But these are smart smart people leading the country and by golly don’t dare question them.

I live in a state bordering Mexico. Yes, there has been a great deal of illegal immigration over than border, tho not all aliens are from the Western Hemisphere. Brewer & her Sheriff Joe watchdog has gone about “protecting” AZ from the alien onslought ##s backwards. States have a duty to protect their own borders; they demand state’s rights on everything else. The U.S. National Guard has, for the past 10 years, been deployed to Iraq and also Afghanistan, fighting 2 wars simultaneously. Thus the National Guard has not been available to guard our borders, i.e., guard our nation. The AZ border region is mostly desert with afew ranches here & there. To blame the President is just a way to pass the buck.

Then of course there’s always the old political trick of wagging a finger to look tough for the cameras. You meet with a political adversary and the context of the conversation is innocent– raising your finger in conversation sometimes is just showing emotion, high spirits, or emphasis to a point– an example might be something along the lines of “That’s a great idea!”. Yet to the cameras, its easy to interpret as a confrontation. Nixon used the trick all the time.

Obama should apologize to her and the American people for all the jobs his failed policies have cost the American people. He rejected the Keystone Pipeline from Canada and the hundreds of thousands of jobs that would have been created in America. Now he gets up during this State of the Union speech and repeats the same old tired mantra about raising the capital gains taxes on the rich again!!! Remember during the 2008 campaign speech when Obama said he would raise the capital gains tax rate and Charles Gibson said well every time they have done that in the past it resulted in less tax dollars being collected. It is really simple; if you increase the capital gains taxes then “rich” people won’t invest money in businesses so the businesses won’t be expanding and won’t be able to create more jobs!! This man is either in over his head or just doesn’t want to create policies which encourage job growth!! I just read that Canada is now talking to China about buying their oil since Obama rejected it!!!

Unemployment is high for one reason and one reason only: lack of consumer demand. Capital gains tax rates don’t directly effect employment—for example after Bush and the Republicans cut the capital gains rate to 15% there followed one of the most anemic job creation periods in history, only something like 3 million total over 8 years! Over 46% of Americans APPROVE of the job the President is doing. Over 3 million jobs have been added since Obama’s policies hit full stride. Oil production in the country is up. Green energy production in the country is up. GM is back at the #1 car company in the world! Bin Laden is dead. Kaddafhi is gone. All of the world including Russia and China are onside against Iranian nuclear development. The stock market has gone up hugely since Obama’s policies began to kick in. The Republicans have pretty damn pathetic presidential candidates.

Over $1.25 TRILLION of the current debt ‘attributed’ to Obama resulted from interest on the debt George W. Bush left. That’s just the interest on the debt Bush left, never mind the war commitments, the destroyed revenues due to the economic collapse on his watch, the unpaid for seniors drug plan, the huge deficits from his tax cuts, and on and on.

SOMALIA

The operation itself had been in the making for days, with Obama deciding to move forward after U.S. officials identified a narrow window of opportunity to act.

New intelligence emerged last week showing that the health of the American hostage, Jessica Buchanan, was deteriorating rapidly. U.S. officials also gleaned what they called “actionable intelligence” on the kidnapping.

After a 9 p.m. briefing on Monday with his top national security advisers, Obama authorized the rescue operation. On Tuesday, the military decided it was time to move and activated the assault team.

Their presence denies the rights of American citizens to be the recipients of their taxes. Their presence also denies American citizens, jobs. They are a drain on our treasuries. But, worst of all, their manner of entering our country shows their disdain for our laws. It boils down to who gets more political mileage from this image:
Brewer 1
Obama 0

I do not march in lockstep with either party, and think that the GOP is doing its’ best impression of the Democrats in the 80′s (no wise men or women to be found, and no political legs to stand on). The only GOP contender who could possibly challenge Obama is Ron Paul, and the GOP establishment is afraid of him being the nominee. How else to explain Romney and Gingrich returning to the lead, despite their known issues?

If the issue of illegal immigration, and the means to combat it were put up to a plebescite, Brewer’s position would win in a landslide. Mr. Obama would do well to remember that.

It has been demonstrated time and again in interviews and press conferences that Obama is abjectly thin-skinned and cannot abide the least amount of criticism directed at him. Brewer is fighting for her state and his administration is doing everything in its power to impede her policies for its own political agenda. You seem to forget that Obama is our PUBLIC SERVANT, not emperor. BTW, Dave, he is NOT Brewer’s BOSS; he is her peer. In our constitutional republic form of government, states maintain sovereignty alongside the federal government. Get your facts straight.

Many, many al Qaeda leaders are gone. All of the world including Russia and China are onside against Iranian nuclear development. The stock market has gone up hugely since Obama’s policies began to kick in. Deportations of illegal immigrants is UP under President Obama. More are being deported than under Bush. Fewer illegal immigrants are making it into the country. These are the facts. Obama has also very smartly turned the focus on deportation of people involved in criminal activity, so deportations of dangerous illegal immigrants is way up. Get smart Joe, you’re falling behind and sinking in your bias.

Not a search for Ghadafi. The same policies from Bush and the hunt for Bin Laden were still in place under Obama, it was simply a matter of time that we find and kill him. I am a USAF retiree and I am OK with Ghadafi being gone, but the truth is we didn’t stick to the UN mandate. As for Syria, why are we not continuing with the same policy we had on Libya if the same issues are going on there? It’s called inconsistent and it doesn’t serve us well. Why are we not rallying the UN and NATO as we did with Libya?

Come on, you’re whining about that when you know it was an estimate published in a report done before the final amount of the stimulus was even know. And it was published with strong warnings not to take their figures and exact nor definitive – and they gave their reasons why the numbers shouldn’t be taken as exact or definitive.

And you still cling to this after all this time? You don’t think the 8 million jobs lost during an economic collapse on Bush’s watch is a little more relevant than an extremely qualified estimate in an early report? Not Bush, Reagan or any other POTUS. While I hope we pull out of this soon, the elephant in the room is State Budgets and the inability to balance in accordance with the law. Now that the states have run out of stimulus money, we will see even more of a slowdown and teachers, police and fireman will be drawing down in order to balance budgets. China Leader Warns Iran Not to Make Nuclear Arms

BEIJING — Prime Minister Wen Jiabao wrapped up a six-day Middle East tour this week with stronger-than-usual criticism of Iran’s defiance on its nuclear program, and with multibillion-dollar oil deals that would seem to signal less reliance on Tehran for China’s growing energy needs.

Mr. Wen’s comments on Iran were unusually pointed for Chinese diplomacy. In Doha, Qatar’s capital, he said China “adamantly opposes Iran developing and possessing nuclear weapons.”

He also explicitly warned Iran not to close the Strait of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf bottleneck through which roughly a fifth of the crude oil traded worldwide passes, saying that such action would be regarded as aggression against most of the world’s nations. Iran had earlier threatened to shut down the strait should the United States strengthen sanctions against Tehran.

BUSH: 6 years of a useless war in Iraq that had nothing to do with 9/11, nor anything to do with international terrorism (“WMD?”) and will end up costing the American taxpayer $2.5 Trillion when all is said and done.

OBAMA: Closed the War in Iraq. Refocused the war on terror, where it should have been all along…. Osama Bin Laden killed during his watch plus most of al Qaeda’s top lieutenants killed.”

BUSH: Stock market has 8 years of lackluster, stagnant growth, and crashes BIG TIME during the last full year of his presidency (DJIA index in the “8,000″ range).

OBAMA: Stock market recovered and the DJIA index now at the “12,700″ mark. And check out the report from Apple corporation yesterday…. BIGGEST quarter of revenues and profits in it’s history. (LOL! …. good economic news “worries” the Republi-C-R-E-T-_-Ns; it goes against their “we hope America fails right now, so we can have a Republican president” mentality).

BUSH: “MADE IN AMERICA” manufacturing jobs have annual net losses EVERY SINGLE YEAR of his presidency, totaling 4.6 million U.S. manufacturing jobs LOST after 8 years.

OBAMA: “MADE IN AMERICA” manufacturing jobs have annual net GAINS in 2010 (+109,000) and in 2011 (+225,000)…. first time in 12 years (since the Clinton years) that the USA manufacturing sector started GAINING jobs and not losing them.

Well, there goes your record of useless cut and pasting. While your positive remarks on Obama’s record are almost commendable, I stand by my statement that he won’t be bringing much up in any debates. Of some of the good things Obama has done, I am glad he brushed off Iran and sent a carrier through the straights. I am also glad about the raid in Somalia (although I find it difficult to believe our SEALS can only act by order of the POTUS). As far as jobs, the numbers had to come up sooner or later, but he still falls well below his own predictions…FACT. And I certainly do not want the US to fail, but I don’t believe Obama is the one to actually get us out of the mess we’re in. I do enjoy your apples and oranges comparisons though. There is no cookie cutter 1 or 2 term POTUS. 50% of our government is Dem and the other is GOP, so your partisan BS won’t fly here. I truly wonder if you EVER voted GOP. While you pound on Bush, we watch Obama spend more of what we don’t have. Please spare us your blame Bush BS. BTW, Obama spending more of what we don’t have is a fact, not a whine. I am all for budgets cuts and allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire for ALL, but only when the government shows some fiscal responsibility.

as arizona wants to enforce their border and do whats right for america and its people we then had the pres. speech
What really galled me was Pres. Obama bragging about more than 3 million U.S. jobs created during the last 22 months.

That could have been good news for unemployed Americans.

But during that same period, the Obama Administration issued more than 3 million work visas to new immigrants and other foreign workers (more than half of them permanent).

now how the hell is that good for our economy, not to mention the still RIDICULOUS AND ABSURD ANCHOR BABY LAW that forces american taxpayers to foot the bill for the next 18 plus years for everything that has to do with that NOW JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE BORN ON THIS SIDE OF THE BORDER KID. this law is one of the biggest draws for illegals to come here and as long as its in place we TAXPAYERS will continue to get screwed!!! then we have the pres. and many of the so called hopefuls who want to give millions of illegals amnesty. ABSOLUTELY REPULSIVE!! and they use the same lame excuse every time. why should the kids be punished for something the parents did. their not being punished just sent back to their homeland because the didn’t come here through the proper channels. then we have the speaker
After a year of blocking legislation to improve our immigration policies, Speaker Boehner (R-Ohio) needs to answer to the public why he is acting exactly as Speaker Pelosi (D-Calif.) did.
WHEN AND WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR OUR!!!!!! ELECTED OFFICIALS, not the illegals and not the corp. america, unions, big oil, wall street, etc huge contributions BUT OURS THE 98 PERCENT THE MAJORITY,THE SENIORS TO DO WHATS RIGHT FOR US, STAND UP FOR US, STAND BEHIND AND UPHOLD THE PROMISES AND ESPECIALLYTHE OATH!!! Brewer looked very foolish for grandstanding in public. Now many people (with common sense) believes she’s a nut job.

If you need to protect your state, then just do it. Don’t worry about Washingtons reaction.
If you need to sell your book, do the talk show circuit like everyone else.

But for goodness sake, don’t embarrass your state with tactics like that. You made yourself look like an “donkey”.

Every effort that Arizona has taken to protect its citizens and secure its border have been thwarted by obama. His condescending ways are well known by those in the beltway. He deserved the tongue lashing. The Governor deserved to be seriously listened to and the people of Arizona deserve better from obama. All he wants to do is secure more democratic voters for the party.

Posted by: Perplexed | January 26, 2012, 7:07 am 7:07 am

not a fan of Brewer, but I have to agree that his tone always indicates that he is lecturing people in a speech, and interview or whatever – he is extremely condescending and since I am one of the citizens of the U.S. I find him to be unreceptive to any ideas that do not match his – he is not open to discussion just by the way he comes across. If you want to be for the people, by the people and of the people, then you need to listen to the people, and stop treating them/all of us as if we were scum on the bottom of his precious feet.

Ha, he just couldn’t handle the truth in her book. And most of you people need to do some research about what is going on with the borders in Arizona. In fact, go live there for awhile and then see if you agree with Obama. He does not have a clue how big the problem is and HE DOES NOT CARE!

I see in one of the posts we got the usual and obligatory charge of racism for disagreeing with him. Manipulation is often employed by some people to discredit others so the one they disagree with faces no scrutiny as others face. Let’s remember that obama is a ‘special privilege’ guy and should be treated differently. If you challenge him you will be accused of racism. I say to those who take that tact that the only racist present are those who push that bilge.

Having watched this exchange on several different networks, it’s amazing how they all come to Obama’s defense of the situation, rather than listening to Brewer’s side of the story. Obama can do nothing wrong according to the media…only his adversaries. It’s stunning how this guy is protected like this. Let us not forget that illegal immigration is a real problem in this country and AZ deals with it all the time. Brewer did what she could to combat the issue without help from the POTUS…she asked for it and detailed in her book what she got in return. Good on her for that. She did what she had to and this guy in the White House is so out of touch with America, but yet our media portrays him as the second coming…God help us all.

This President has a history of being thin skinned. He doesn’t like to be challenged or criticized. He had a similar run in with Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindahl after the slow response by the President to the oil spill (which of course the media gave him a pass on — a pass they never would have given a Republican President).
I am wondering if this is the only photo of the encounter? Or, did the media run with this photo in order to make “poor” Barack Obama look picked on by the “evil” Jan Brewer?
The President is an arrogant man who for some odd reason felt he had to engage in a discussion about an obscure part of Gov. Brewer’s book. The President, unfortunately, thinks he is the smartest person in the room, and seems to have a history of lecturing people.

Posted by: Jane | January 26, 2012, 8:35 am 8:35 am

It’s not about disagreeing with the president! When you have obvious disrespect, yelling out, calling the president a liar when you are supposed to be an example to youth and people everywhere how you are supposed to conduct yourself is tell tale of your real feelings. People didnt always agree with President Clinton, did anyone shout out at him in sessions and call him a liar? Did anyone disrespect President Bush by lining up outside of Capital Hill and commence to calling him names? Did the entire country protest and take their kids out of school just because the President was going to deliver a back to school speech?!! People were outraged for that why? People didnt want that Black President telling their kids to stay in school and everyone knows it. You cant convince me otherwise that alot of this isnt driven by racist feelings.

Her big complaint seems to be that they were not allowed to take pictures, could not take their cell phones into the oval office and did not like how he spoke to her? From what I understand, the first two item s- photos and cell phones – is standard practice. The phones are not “confiscated”. Visitors are simply asked to place them in the outer office. This applies to EVERYONE. She got her feelings hurt so she cried in a book then ambushes him on the tarmac. SO CLASSY [NOT!]. She claims to have respect for the office of the President – she does not show it here!! this was not the time to hand him a letter, etc. She just should shake his hand, welcome him and introduce him to the others.

I’m Independent. I have never ever voted straight party ever. I don’t always agree with Democrats, I don’t always agree with the Republicans, I don’t agree with everything our current administration and President is doing. Some administrations have had policies I completely agree with, and others I think are horrible. The one thing I would never do, is be disrespectful to any man that holds the highest office in the country. The President, no matter who it is deserves respect, because that is the most difficult position to hold. The behavior i’ve seen towards President Obama is horrid, and Ive used it as a tool to teach my children how NOT to behave. That’s why we have elections and vote..this is how you exercise your disagreement with what is going on in the govt. Not by name calling, shouting out, finger pointing, and all the rest of this juvenile behavior displayed by people that don’t agree with the President. Our elected officials have not behaved in a dignified manner imo. This issue has angered me, and made me act out of character, lowering myself to the same level of juvenile behavior displayed by of alot of Republicans and Democrats, and your next door neighbor. This needs to stop, our true colors are shining through..and it’s not pretty.

I love that she says she “felt” like he was condescending and rude, when she’s the one getting all worked up and pointing her finger at him. Then, in the same breath that she describes the exchange as “feeling” condescending to her…. then says the President seems thin skinned, as she recounts her “brave” exploits to the press.

When, really, Obama was just directly confronting her over her published views…. as you would expect any reasonable person to. All the aggression, you can see in the photo, is coming from her.

I have done a fair amount of work in management, and there always those people who talk trash and behave unprofessionally…. but then take advantage of their colleagues who, in spite of their ankle-biting behavior of trashtalkers, manage to be direct and professional. Unfortunately, scammers like Brewer score quick points for using high school gossip tactics and having manic outbursts like Glenn Beck…. but in the long run, mature people wake up to it. Unfortunately, Brewer is one of these nasty types. She won’t last long. But her finger pointing will probably help her sell her self-aggrandizing memoir.

It doesn’t matter what President Obama does whether right or wrong, republicans and other racist are ALWAYS going to have something to say because it only boils down to RACE! We still live in a racist society, and until those changes Mr. Obama will never be respected and that is a shame. One important thing everyone has forgotten is, Mr. Obama is only dealing with what he was handed from both Bush administrations, but wait, no has nothing to say about that…Right! ***Just as one example, back in the 90′s a chicken-processing plant paid $19 an hour to its workers, today it is more like $9 an hour. Because massive amounts of illegals work for less, it has brought the entire pay scale down, saving that company and others like it millions in wages, at the expense of working Americans. But note chicken prices didn’t come down!

If Obama were the good guy in this, and Jan Brewer was the villain, there wouldn’t have been an exchange at all. The meeting would have been formal.

I think my favorite comment here about how super terrific and awesome Obama is is that the one that starts with:

“Over 46% of Americans APPROVE of the job the President is doing.” (note the capital letters. lol)

Which is just awesome on it’s face. See how great he is!? Only a little more than half of the country thinks he’s doing a bad job. Who can argue with results like that? It’s just 155 million people or so.

It’s like the recent polls number about the direction of the country. It’s up 8%!!! Look how awesome Obama is doing! So what if fully 61% of the country still thinks we’re definitely headed in the wrong direction. The numbers are TRENDING in the right direction. Hell, if he’s in office for another 15 or 20 years he might even hit 50% that think we’re going in the right direction. Awesome! Hope and change! And the people who disagree with him are probably all racists anyway so we can ignore them.

. It is really simple; if you increase the capital gains taxes then “rich” people won’t invest money in businesses so the businesses won’t be expanding and won’t be able to create more jobs!!
———————————-

Unemployment is high for one reason and one reason only: lack of consumer demand. Capital gains tax rates don’t directly effect employment—for example after Bush and the Republicans cut the capital gains rate to 15% there followed one of the most anemic job creation periods in history, only something like 3 million total over 8 years! This ‘tax cuts for the rich creates jobs’ is just myth.

Posted by: baloney patrol
___________
Interesting you call yourself “baloney patrol”. You spew more “baloney” than anyone in recent memory. Do you “patrol” yourself?

The demand for products is low because people have to have a JOB before they can buy products. In order to create jobs, companies must have money to EXPAND. There must be investment, or else companies can not expand.

If you tax capitol gains, people don’t invest and companies can’t expand. Hence, no jobs and hence, no demand.

Another reason companies can’t grow is high gas prices. If companies have to spend more for gas, they can’t hire. THIS was the reason there was high unemployment under Bush. The liberal Congress wanted to cater to the global warming activists and stop oil drilling. Higher gas prices mean fewer jobs.

I’ve noticed gas prices are now surging back upward Mr. “Baloney”. Unemployment ALWAYS follows. It is already starting. There has been a sharp increase in the applications for unemployment benefits just in the last few weeks.

I rarely comment on things being said about the President or our government, but first I have to say that this action was disrespectful on Jan Brewer’s part. He is the President and Commander in Chief. This administration has demonstrated that this country hasn’t evolved at all and at times it makes me think most have no clue of how our country is ran. It amazes me that every one is quick to blame President Obama for everything, yet this country was broken and flawed when he took office. And YOU PEOPLE elected Bush twice, as if he did not do enough destruction the first time. Really, have you truly forgotten what shape we were in under that last administration. Or is it selective memory? And if you thought that President Obama or any President for that matter that was voted in after the Bush era would have made giants strides that would truly make a difference you are delusional. And although President Obama has made strides, in true form it is not enough and never will be for some people. The entire time it has been a tug aware and it is as though the Republicans made up in their minds early on that they would fight him on everything and anything, he entire term has been a tug of war against the system that suppose to be a “checks and balance” system. Sad!

The demand for products is low because people have to have a JOB before they can buy products
—————————————-

Wrong again. Demand is low because even though the economy has doubled in size since 1980, wages have not kept pace with expenses. Nearly all of the financial gains of the last 30 years have gone to the very rich, at the expense of working class Americans who no longer have the buying power to get the economy growing again. Republicans achieved this with their tax policies. -Ask Mitt Romney!

Shame on ABC! The final comment on the show this morning concerning the President’s arrival in Phoenix was something to the effect that “…the president gave the governor a piece of his mind…”
Another classic example of ABC spinning the news! At that time you had no idea what transpired between the two and you also show a photo indicating the altercation may have been the other way around.
When is ABC going to become accurate and independent???

Pictures can sometimes be deceiving …. we all know that. As someone who has met Gov. Brewer and talked with her (when she first took office), I believe her when she says she was talking with her hands (she does gesture a lot with her hands). I don’t believe for a minute that she was disrespectful toward the president and both say that the conversation was cordial or a good meeting – just leave it at that. The picture was simply snapped at the wrong time that flattered neither one of them. It will be interesting to see if the president will take her up on her invitation – after all, she said she’d buy lunch if he toured the border with her.

In politics, just about anything else can be justified. You can justify a war. You can justify increasing or decreasing taxes. You can even justify an extra-marital affair. Surely Clinton did. However, there is NO way you can justify turning a funeral into a political rally, shouting political slogans in the same room where the coffin is. It would be interesting to see YOU do it.

I’am not at all surprised that Obama walked off in a snit while the Governor of Arizona was talking to him-reminds me of when he FINALLY went to Louisania when the oil spill was on and Gov. Jindell was there to meet him and he said Obama came walking quickly towards him and he thought he was coming towards him to really express his concern on the spill and the people it affected, INSTEAD he told Gov. Bobby Jindel “Quit talking about ME to the press” (because it took so long for him to go down and return phone calls for help) the Gov. was taken by surprise by his remark. He shouldn’t have been surprised-everyone knows that Obama is full of himself!! There never has been a president so NARCISSISTIC, ARROGANT AND EVERYTHING ABOUT ME !! Why can’t the republicans get it, it’s not that hard.

Giving more money to the corporations does not mean they will hire more people. No company with basic intelligence will invest, build new factories, and hire people if there is no demand for their product or service

Demand increases when us common folks have the money and are not afraid of going into debt to buy things.

Companies spend billions in advertizing for one reason, to increase demand. When they can’t meet customer demand for their product they will hire and invest to meet that demand an increase their bottom line. This is not rocket science, it’s basic economics 101.

Brewer is the better leader.— She stinks. Completely ineffective. Want to get rid of illegals, take away the jobs. Put a fine on anyone who hires and illegal $100K for each illegal found working at your premises or your business. How fast do you think all the illegals wil lbe fired and how quickly will the word get out ,”no jobs there”. Simple. Try it. Just try it. She doesn’t have the brains to know how to deal with the problem. She stinks at her job and she’s blaming others for her own incompetence. And making a fool of herself in the process. A typical “WHY CANT YOU DO MY JOB FOR ME?” republican wacko. Look at her. She looks like an out of control btch maniac. Take a prozac. Then resign from office so someone who knows what they’re doing can get in.

What an idiot. why doesn’t she just fine employers for hiring illegals and do raid? It’s not that hard to make the jobs for illegals go away. Make illegals too much of a liability to have on your property. Is she too dumb to do this???? how dumb are Arizona people to elect such a wacko?

Thanks NANCYR1, for inadvertently pointing out the absolute and thorough hypocrisy of the left — the same left that called Bush every name in the book over and over again, and yet are now whining like grounded schoolgirls about Brewer finishing a tiff that Obama started. Good luck with reverse-reality spin, lol.

If you’re going to do it, DO IT! She’s too stupid to handle her own problems. She doesnt fine them, she hasn’t done any raids. She can’t even effectively govern. She sucks. period. Try actually following THROUGH and passing FINES on companies AND private citizens who hire illegals. Try electing someone who knows how to govern and get something done.

Jefferson believed that government derives its legitimacy from the ‘consent of the governed’. When that government no longer has that consent then it is illigetimate and has no right to govern. Continued violations of the Constitution because the executive branch doesn’t agree with the legislative branch is not a license to disregard that document. The government is illigetimate.

Arizona has one of the toughest worker sanctions laws in the country in place – it was passed by Gov. Brewer’s predecessor, Janet Napolitano. Under the law, employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants can lose their business license and be banned from doing business in the state. The way the law is written and enforced has nothing to do with Gov. Brewer or her ability to govern. While her predecessor (a democrat) worked to enact laws that dealt with employers who hired illegals, Brewer has focused on the illegals themselves rather than duplicating Napolitano’s efforts.

Credit goes to the states that passed strict laws against illegal immigration, not the NG troops that did a whole lot of nothing on the border. This is another example of Obama taking credit for anything good. Fact is, states like Arizona made the 40 year low happen. The only thing Obama did was wreck our economy making the journey across the border not worth it.

I’ve noticed gas prices are now surging back upward Mr. “Baloney”. Unemployment ALWAYS follows. It is already starting. There has ben a sharp increase in the applications for unemployment benefits just in the last few weeks.—————–This is why the US govt. needs more patent control over Big Oil , who surely does control the “fast-slow-stop ” switch of US job growth. . The oil companies are keeping prices as high as possible , along with the Anti-Obama Zionist Israelis , who are deliberately raising tensions in the region during an upcoming US election cycle , which is also contributing to increasing the already too high fuel prices , hurting US employment as previously noted , and thus Mr. Obama’s re-election chances. Go figure….

Millions of good Americans agree with and fully support Jan Brewer in her efforts to keep the illegal alien invaders out of Arizona and the U.S. Obama has lied to the American people about his policies and is in fact actively recruiting Latinos to sneak into the U.S. so they can vote for him. Then he rewards them with jobs, free schooling and medical care! Deportations are at a all time low, Obama lies! Jan will keep up the fight to free Arizona from the criminal invaders and America will keep supporting her efforts until the job is done! She disgraces her OWN office.

I suspect the reason cells phones and cameras are confiscated in the “holding room” just outside the Oval Office and inside the office itself is for SECURITY reasons…allowing photographs of thse highly sensitive and secure areas could compromise security by allowing them to be scoped out in advance (even if the individuals taking them had no such intention, they could end up on the internet and in the hands of those who MIGHT).

Just wondering why all these folks who are calling this governor names and condemning her for her actions think that the president was lying when he said the tarmac meeting was “a good meeting.” He didn’t seem bothered by her actions, probably because he knows the governor gestures with her hands when she talks and meant no disrespect. So, is the president lying about the situation when he said it was “a good meeting”?

For goodness sakes folks, don’t you get it? The media is trying to incite you to play up the tired ol’ Democrats are good (and victims) and the Republicans are evil (bullies) storyline. Greetings -

Ref: Governor Jan Brewer publicly putting her finger in President Obama’s face

Certainly we can expect to disagree with others, and certainly none of us are perfect. That said -
Brewer was CERTAINLY out of order when she put her finger in President Obama’s face. That isn’t decent to do to anyone, except the devil. She owes our President a public apology for that public display of rudeness and disrespect toward our Commander in Chief.

Perhaps she will recognize that she was out of order and seek President Obama’s forgiveness.
That would be a class action indeed!

P.S.

Governor Brewer is publicly photographed pointing her finger in President Obama’s face. A poor image captured. Whatever our President said prior to her finger pointing doesn’t excuse her disrespectful gesture. He is the Commander in Chief. Is he always right? No.

I believe that he does apologize when he realizes that he’s wrong. If in this encounter, he behaved uncivilized as some have indicated, of course he should remedy the matter. Relative to Brewer, though, that photograph clearly proves that she was out of order.

Quoting the article above: “In an interview with KFYI radio in Phoenix, Brewer said Obama was “somewhat thin-skinned and a little tense, to say the least.”
Hmmm . . . Brewer comments about Obama seeming “tense” – then why does the picture show a seemingly calm U.S. President being yelled at and pointed at (or poked) by Arizona’s Governor? I’m a bit confused. And why are so many calling this behavior “brave”? This looks more like a photo opportunity for Brewer to me. I am not sure either political camp should look at these as anything other than two politicians doing what politicians do best. But I do agree with other posters telling us to “think for ourselves.”

WHATHAPPENED08:”Obama should apologize to her and the American people for all the jobs his failed policies have cost the American people.”

Newsflash, we are in the 23rd straight month of private sector job GROWTH. Over 3 MILLION private sector jobs have been created since 2009.

Under Bush and HIS policies (which were the SAME as what the Republicans are still touting) we LOST 8.75 million private sector jobs.

Your representatives and candidates are LYING to you. They are ignoring the FACTS (which anyone can look up for themselves) by stating that Obama has “made things worse” and “failed to create jobs”. They know that their base won’t bother to check or will gladly go along with the lies, so blind is their hatred of this President.

You should be ashamed, including of this Governor who claims she has “all the resepct in the world for the Office of President” and yet shakes her finger in the face of our President like a teenaged gang-banger trying to pick a fight or a parent scolding a child. And she whines that HE was “condescending” to HER!

Answer: the same type of trash that would shake their finger in the face of our president. And the same type of trash who would lie about headless corpses found in the desert. She should not be believed nor trusted. She’s a Republican politician.

At the time of the 2010 meeting, she described it as very cordial. Then she told a different story in her book.

Now, in her accounts to the press, she claimed she brought the book up…. and elsewhere claimed he brought it up.

She’s a liar about this two times over… and it is all in the public record. It doesn’t surprise me. She’s probably hoping to be the next Sarah Palin. Thinks that sticking her finger in the President’s face and telling tall tales about it afterwards will land her a spot on the GOP ticket. You know what, it probably will. This is the most dysfunction Republican field I’ve ever seen…. she’d fit right in with Space Ranger Newt.

Just said that Jan Brewer, Cindy McCain and Mrs. Newt-Grinch look like exact clones of one another. Yet you and Darla come on here attacking me. Did I strike a nerve or something? Are either of you related to any of the three Cloned-Ones? Do you happen to look like them? (For you Frank, that would REALLY be bad.) Sheesh. You and Darla need to say what is REALLY upsetting you. Arizona has one of the toughest worker sanctions laws in the country in place – it was passed by Gov. Brewer’s predecessor, Janet Napolitano. Under the law, employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants can lose their business license and be banned from doing business in the state.—-aaaaand how many businesses has she closed??? none. How many places has she found use illegals??? none. gee, ya think that’s accurate? The law does NOT impose fines on private individuals that hire. How many illegals do you think are maids? mow lawns? Do construction ? She stinks. She does NOT know how to do her job. HER JOB is to make the jobs FOR illegals go away> How’s she doing with that?????? HORRIBLE. She sthinks. She’s incompetent, she’s can’t govern. She can’t pass a decent law that works, she only passes crappy laws that are borderline or not-Constitutional, which only costs her state more money in legal fees while she lets employers and yes she DOES let employers use illegals with impunity. She sucks. She can’t do her job, she can’t handle her own problems, and she looks like a btch wagging her finger like a nagging hen when it’s her who can’t get anything done.

I believe Obama needs to be verbally slapped as hard and as often as possible — to help compensate for the many misguided people over the years who have laughably told him he was bright and inspiring. It will all even out in the end, if he realizes he is merely a very mediocre academic type who was never fit to be president at all.

Can you imagine running up to the president of your company yelling at him because you can’t do your own job? Fullfill your own responsibilities? I agree 100% she has done NOTHING to make the jobs for illegals go away. nothing. Her laws stink, they only get her in trouble. She stinks. If everything I proposed only got us in more trouble, I’d be fired. She has an issue, deal with it! Expecting the president to run to your state to solve yoru problems for you.. I live in the north east. Do we cry to the fed when we get a blizzard????? no. We plow ourselves out. We know our problems, we made plans for them and deal. She can’t handle her job, period. We are so tired of our public official’s unrestrained acts of disrespect towards the President. How do we teach our children to respect authority, when we are not doing it ourselves? As a public official and an American respect of the Office of President should be part of your moral fiber. Let’s act like adults people. Gov. Brewer, you have a right to say what you want to say to whomever you want to hear it. As a public official, you have a responsibility to demonstrate a higher level of behavior – especially when you know there are cameras present. You may not respect the man, but, as an American and an elected official, you must respect the Office of the President. Your body language belies such respect. Please apologize to the public because I do not want young people to think your display is appropriate. Please apologize to the President because it is the right thing to do.

Hey, obie, if you can’t take the HEAT, STAY out of Arizona. You ordered the sale of guns to Mexico so you could push you anti-gun agenda and it blew up in your face you JACKA*S. You got an American Law Enforcement Officer working for the Border Patrol, killed with your scheme. As it is known in Chicago, Agent Brian Terry was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time, he shouldn’t have been there in the first place, it was all his fault, right obie? Gov. Brewer does not ride side saddle, and is a very straight shooter. She will tell you how she feels, right now, and you obie had to walk, no run, with your pants all wet.
You want all of the ILLEGALS in the country, and you want them to know that it was you that let them stay here, just like billy clinton gave citizenship to many in California just a few months before the re-election, telling them, “Don’t forget who made you Americans come election time.” You obie want to get votes from anywhere you can, even out of your a**, if michelle would say you could. Walking away from Gov. Brewer showed just how you where here to treat her. You started in on her first because of her book. By the way, who read it to you? You are a coward! You are as much ready to be President as a rock in the sand is able to move. You learned that anything can be bought because the richest man in the world bought it for you and you also. You are not your own man, you are just a puppet being used to destroy America.
You could care less about our country and it’s laws. You do things that are illegal, like giving “free” birth control to the citizens just the Friday before the Pro-Life week-end. Who is going to pay for that expense? Are you going to tell insurance companies that they have to pay for it? You can’t do that without a vote from Congress, but you do it anyway, because you are the “President” and you have the Communistic Demo saying yes because they don’t want to see you cry. Why did you come to the GREAT STATE of ARIZONA? Did you think that Gov. Brewer was going to kiss your ring? After all, it is made of tin just like your preziduncey. I am very proud of OUR GOVERNOR, sure beats the hell out the the previous gov. who you took to Washington for some reason, YIPPEE! Oh by the way, we haven’t heard any thing about Nutzpalitono, she really is a basket case and we are very happy that she is freezing her caboose, out of the warm and beautiful state of ARIZONA, and is with her more feminine wife. I am sure, if you are smart enough, doubtful, that Nutzpalitano is worthless.
I hope that you move back to indonesia when you are out of the WHITE House, or thrown out very soon.

As a female voter, I am embarrassed by her behavior. She looks unprofessional and fulfills the stereotype of women who can’t contain their emotions. An absolute DISGRACE this woman!!! Despicable behavior. No matter how opposed she may be to this administration, THIS IS NOT THE BEHAVIOR OF A LEADER. This gesture on JB’s part caused irreparable harm to her agenda and her career. An example needs to be made. She is officially ineffective from this point on. RESIGN NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I appreciate and approve of Brewer’s behavior, nutty as it was, because it so perfectly illustrates the mind and heart of the far right.
It shows how far Republicans have fallen, how uncivil they are, how gullible and vicious they’ve become. And it provides proof to Americans – real Americans, not the neo-fascist right – need that Republicans cannot be allowed to regain the presidency.

What is disgraceful is not that she pointed her finger at him, but that she didn’t take the opportunity to accidentally deliver a swift kick to his wide (for a man) behind when he stalked off like a prissy, little punk during her response.

Lol.

This incident should not have taken place. He is the president of the United States. Where is the respect for our great leader? If Michelle Obama was there, her finger would not have been in the President’s face. Where was security and how did this lady get that close to the President. The nerve she has, she is trying to get her book sales riding off of the back of our president. She knew the cameras were going to be there. President Obama is a well respected man around the world. This lady just showed us what her issues were. She don’t have to say them out loud. Wow! God Bless America!

Posted by: Sharon | January 26, 2012, 6:17 pm 6:17 pm

Brewer is an idiot and is trying to sell more books. What part of that is not clear. She is pandering to her T-bag base in hopes of being re-elected for not doing anything for the past several years. If you listen to her it is always someone elses fault… and by the way the good economic news is due to federal funds going to projects in AZ to keep people employed…. I don’t think I heard a thank you from her for that…..

The left wing hate mongers are so worried that their Marxist Community Organizer and Chief is about to be evicted from the White House, they will do anything to make Jan Brewer look bad! Millions of Americans love Jan for standing up for whats right and fighting for the people of Arizona!
The rest of America is with Jan on this one! Obama got the finger because he earned it! Next he will get the boot from the voters!

HOW DARE SHE DISRESPECT THE PRESIDENT! NOW CLAIMS TO FEEL THREATENED ! WOW

Posted by: GERI | January 26, 2012, 7:16 pm 7:16 pm

The president’s account of the exchange is more believable than Jan Brewer’s, and the president is more likable, cordial, classy and civil. Remember when she claimed her father died in WW2? Lie. Remember her fearmongering about headless bodies? If you look at all the pictures of the exchange, the president is smiling and she’s wagging her finger and in his face like a scold. She may want to look in the mirror before she talks about thin skin. (multiple meanings of thin skin intended). Bob Schieffer gets it right when he talks about how vulgar her behavior is. It tells us all something about the Republican base and how low they’re willing to go.

It’s refreshing to see a politician stand up to Obama. It’s also great to see her use her constituional right of FREEDOM OF SPEECH and not bow down to the liberal media.
So, Arizona thinks she’s a sucky governor? How would you like the drug cartels to take over the state? You’ll never get help from Obama.

What else do you expect from the right wing extremists disguising themselves as conservatives? These are the most hypocritical, racist, fake Christians America has to offer. Get over it! You had your chance with Bush. Look where that got us. I would vote for Donald Duck before I voted for a “bottom of the barrel” candidate better known as a Republican.

jan brewer looked like a shrill, crazy cat lady next to the distinguished leader of the free world … we deserve local leaders that respect the will of the American people, and the office of the President … we need to start a petition to recall the crazy cat lady, and elect in her place an intelligent local leader … we deserve better

Priceless ” Kodak Moment ‘.It’s the least she could enjoy after her State has suffered under the unprecedented punitive, economic warfare waged against by the Obama Administration and it’s proxies. because she was compelled to act in a vacuum created by Federal dereliction.

Posted by: GrooveAnew | January 26, 2012, 11:14 pm 11:14 pm

Regardless of the exchange of words, NO one has the right to put their finger in the President’s face. It is Highly disrespectful. She says she respects the office of the President which means that she respect the office, but not the man in the office. Who the hell is she that she thinks she can demand anything, much less that he can’t walk away from her?!?!?
She handled it VERY poorly and should be glad all he did was walk away. He’s not a slave that she can demand has to stay put to listen to her like she’s his boss. Not showing up today, but speaking about this event all over the media that she calls “small” looks bad. If it’s so small, she should leave it alone. She wants people to think he was disrespectful. The old addage still holds true. If you have nothing nice to say, dont say anything. He met with her, accepted her letter and like a lot of women, it wasn’t enough. She had to keep going on at the wrong time in the wrong place in front of reporters, but it backfired on her!
Her behavior is part of why we don’t have a female President. Women are viewed as overly emotional, hormonal, and unable to be cool in heated situations. Unfortunately, sometimes it’s true as proven by her behavior. She didn’t help herself or women in politics at all.
When you get upset because someone else makes you feel stupid, it’s YOUR problem not theirs. She must believe she’s not worth his time and she couldn’t force him to listen so she threw a fit.

Not many people are able to tell the President how bad he’s doing to his face considering that Barry has surrounded himself with Shrills (maybe not Pinetta).
The President ought to be thanking Jan for trying to give him the perspective that he lacks.

Posted by: Noz | January 27, 2012, 8:44 am 8:44 am

Another blunder by our classless and dimwitted “president”. Really stupid of him to start an argument in public with a governor, but it’s not the first time he has engaged in such irresponsible and immature behavior. At least it’s perversely entertaining to see all the absurdly phony indignation and outrage expressed towards Brewer. All this just shows how out of touch and hypocritical and dishonest the lib left has become.

Posted by: Jeff | January 27, 2012, 8:47 am 8:47 am

Look! I don’t care if Jan dislikes him, she should respect the ‘office’ of the president period. There was absolutely no need for the finger pointing. There have been some presidents that I didn’t agree with; and there have been some things that Obama has said and done that I didn’t agree with, BUT, I will respect the position as our leader. Many of you think you could do his job… please… you would flop in the first week. Get a grip people!!

@REGINA
Thanks for the laughs with your never-ending post of goofy psycho-babble. Unfortunately for you, the bottom line remains clear and simple: Obama shouldn’t harass and harangue people in public if he doesn’t want an unpleasant response.

“Look! I don’t care if Jan dislikes him, she should respect the ‘office’ of the president period.”
POSTED BY: QUE
Just the same old lame bs that has been repeated at least several dozen times on this thread, and which has been aptly answered as many times also. He started it, not her. He needs to act “presdidential” if he wants others to treat him with “respect”. It’s just not that hard to grasp for those who are even half sensible and fair. He blew it, bigtime. Case closed, lol.

Just another boneheaded indiscretion to add to the lengthy scroll of reasons not to vote for Obama in November. As if more reasons are even needed at this sad point.

Posted by: Captain Obvious | January 27, 2012, 9:03 am 9:03 am

I do fear that this sort of trashy spectacle will hurt the president. He should have brought all this up in private, not on an airport tarmac with cameras all around. What the hell was he thinking?

Posted by: A Cynic | January 27, 2012, 9:05 am 9:05 am

She know that she is “posing” for the cameras. President Obama is too nice. This is evidence that the president cannot trust the Secret Service because when she pointed her finger anywhere near the President of the United States, they should have dragged her off the tarmac, pronto! in front of all the cameras she was “posing” for. Racists and racist politicians and politicians whose base is the most vile racists in America have went out of their way to disrespect this president, because he is Black, because he is not White and to stir the most lower based emotions in their racist voters. He should put a stop to it. No one should be allowed to disrespect the President of the United States. I’m sure that he probably did not even see her finger while trying to listen to what she had to say while standing on a tarmac, but, he knows now and she should have to give the president a public apology for disrespecting him, ergo, disrespecting the Presidency. If the President did see her pointing her finger as if chastising him, he should have promptly walked off, leaving her standing on the tarmac pointing her dirty little finger in the wind.

Obama is clearly just tired of being bossed around by MIchelle, and he tried to take it out on Brewer. Naturally that didn’t work out too well. Hilarious.

Dear GIGI, you might want to consider rejoining, or joining for the first time, the real world. Your overly long post convinces most people of just one thing: that some can’t get essential facts and realities and can write mind-numbing nonsense and silly spin. LOL for sure.

Cheers and best wishes to Jan Brewer. If all these childish and ultra-hypocritical libsters are so ticked off, and so wildly dishonest, then you are most surely in the right. Too bad Obama lost, yet again.

Posted by: Love it | January 27, 2012, 9:15 am 9:15 am

Either way, Obama will be out of the presidential gig thing in November. And yes, it will be his own fault, not someone else’s as he always claims.

This is how you greet the President of the US when visiting your state???

I live in Arizona and am constantly amazed at the propensity this state has for electing lunatics.

Brewer and Arpaio, at a minimum, need to be defeated at the very next opportunity; Arpaio should be in jail by then, so the focus should be on eliminating Brewer.

Posted by: Old Horse | January 27, 2012, 12:42 pm 12:42 pm

What a repulsive and classless woman. How dare she wag her scrawny finger at the President of the United States, much less in public? She’ll be political toast before long, and forgotten. Obama will go down as one of the great ones in the history books.

Posted by: David | January 27, 2012, 1:06 pm 1:06 pm

Posted by: Rafe | January 27, 2012, 3:07 pm 3:07 pm

everyone that is agreeing that Jan should have pointed fingers into someone’s face is a lunatic themselves…it’s so funny that when someone does something like that to someone else it gets cheers, or it’s funny until it’s done to you..no one should have to go through that much disrespect as an human being, let alone being the president. From day one President Obama, not just Obama, has endured harsh remarks, an blatant disrespect that it’s sickening even to the devil’s stomach. That is just ridiculous! Bush never received that much disrespect all 8 years he was in office. And people who think it’s ok to go through life treating people like that, God have mercy on your souls.

Posted by: phenabena | January 28, 2012, 4:24 pm 4:24 pm

Its time for Arizona to elect another governor! Respect goes a long way and the republicans have shown a total lack of it since Obama became president. The economy has been in a tail spin since outsourcing and bad business management has been in place. If that was REGAN, she would never have dome that! this type of blatant disrespect is unacceptable. What happened to majority rule or does it only mean something when REPUBLICAN RULE THE WORLD? You wonder why other countries disrespect us look at your action first.

Excuse me.
Does this Caucasian-American, know the ‘attitude’ of displaying RESPECT?
Maybe she thinks she is above that which is required of herself, but wants to DEMAND respect be addressed toward her from The President of the United States of America. She is readily claiming he exhibited ‘disrespect’ by avoiding her evident tirade.
How is this so? Is it because he is an African-American/Black man?
Wait a minute. Would she have, even mis-takingly, confronted another Caucasian-American President, Governor, Member of Congress or Head-of-State with an admonishing, wagging finger?
Is it within protocol, to greet a visiting dignitary with a letter of her wishes?
How would she greet the Commander of her State’s National Guard?
I do declare, Jan Brewer, is RACIST.
That is undeniable, when observing her actions and her subsequent expressions.
I do also consider her to be of barbaric, coarse character and attitude, with no awareness of decorum.
Did she really expect to publicly argue her issue on the tarmac?
Would it have been expedient for The President to wait for her to dismiss him, following her admonition?
One does need also, to recognize the convictions she hold as instructive, regarding the Law she signed to restrain illegal immigration and the Law she usurped by dismissing the Commissioner of Electoral Districts.
I am joined by others in my observation that our society has lost all modicum of civility.
Everything and anything goes.
She is offering that she respects the ‘Office of the President’, does she know how to show respect to an ‘official visitor’ to her State of Arizona? Could her desire to broach an unsettled matter be addressed indoors/away from reporters?
He erred by accepting the letter. Like walking into a trap. She should be required to channel her correspondence through his aides.
I am appealing for an open apology.

When I served in the military it was taken seriously, all of it. It’s a job in which you are sworn
to honor your country. When an officer of higher Rank approaches you salute and they honor
you by returning that salute.
We were also taught that that salute is to the office that he/she holds, regardless of how you
feel about the person in the uniform, the courtesy is to the office.

The people we put in office are there to serve the Country, and this country is lead by the President. This recent disrespect for the office of the Presidency is something we should all
take note of.

I’m not saying the Congress people should Salute the president, BUT, the respect for the office he holds should be observed.

Right now, every day there are terrible examples of disrespect for the Office of the President of the United States by those who we elected to serve not only the President, but us .. the people of the United States of America.

We will soon have an opportunity to Vote in this country. I hope you all keep this in mind how the GOP has sworn oaths to overthrow a sitting president and have day after day acted NOT on behalf of the people, but on behalf of the 1% by voting against everything our President has tried to do to fix the problems our Nation faces.

Tell Congress how you feel.
