Extended unemployment insurance for a total of 99 weeks without question should be extended and possibly extended for more weeks for eligible candidates. Congress along with the president know there aren't enough jobs for the unemployed, and cutting their benefits would be irresponsible.

The US economy hasn't recovered one job from the 9 million lost during '08-'09 recession.
More people graduate college every year than the number of newly created jobs.

25 million total unemployed in US
23 million active college students
4 million high school graduates every year

1.3 million new jobs in 2011? How is 1.3 million total new jobs a negotiating numbers!
1.3 million is unsubstantial and almost non-existent in the US economy.

This is a collapse.
Don't make families than need the tax break and unemployment insurance suffer.

Posted by: Needs Vacation---And only the best will get a job. America increased productivity to the point that many people are surplus the the economies requirements. Trying is good enough, working hard alone isn't good enough, in the 21st century you will have to perform, or you will lose.

Cutting benefits in an economy which hasn't recovered one from the 9million lost during '08-'09 would be ridiculous.

There are more high school graduates every years than new jobs added over the past year.
23 milion active college students
25 million total unemployed

This is a crisis.

"Nukes have about a 99-100 percent mortality rate. So glad Obama is going to let Iran have them."

I hear you, JASON. Too bad you weren't on Obama's list of payoffs and union friends. Had you been, you'd have gotten a nice chunk of "stimulus" change (as in, pork). Good luck.

All of our foes, and potential foes, know full well that Obama is perhaps the weakest president we have ever had.

@ Karen - Oh no, you were unemployed for 1 month in 1994. Poor you. I could have taken a dump that could have found a job in 1994. Things are a lot different in 2012, and these 99 weeks mean A LOT to MANY people. I am scheduled to on the Federal extended plan right about the time they are going to announce that they are decreasing it, leaving me screwed. There's no way to prepare for losing your benefits unexpectedly. Now, we are in jeopardy of losing everything we own. The unemployment numbers in many states is "decreasing" because many thousands are falling off the grid due to completing the 99 weeks and have simply given up looking for a job. I can't blame them. Do you know what it's like to wake up everyday and have to spend the entire day looking for and applying for jobs, all the while trying to take care of toddlers that stay home and worry about how the hell you're going to pay your bills this month? This is coming from someone with a BS and (x2) AS degrees... These 99 weeks are of the utmost importance to people like me and our families.
