Obama Campaign Launches ‘Truth Teams’
The Obama campaign is today beginning a new effort to enlist and educate at least 2 million supporters for a “grassroots communications team” they’re calling the Truth Team.
“The goal is to ensure that when Republicans attack President Obama’s record, grassroots supporters can take ownership of the campaign and share the facts with the undecided voters in their lives,” the campaign said in a statement.
The teams will be first launched in 13 “swing states,” including Iowa, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia.
The rollout also includes a social media blitz, directing supporters to three new websites: KeepingHisWord.com, which highlights Obama’s record and “promises kept”; KeepingGOPHonest.com, which highlights GOP policy positions; and AttackWatch.com, which fact-checks claims made against Obama on the campaign trail.
“If the other guys are going to run a campaign based on misrepresenting the president’s record – and their own – we have two options: sit back and let these lies go unchallenged, or fight back with the truth,” deputy Obama campaign manager Stephanie Cutter said in an email. ”We’re fighting back.”
So far, the “other guys” mentioned on the three websites are almost exclusively limited to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. There is one mention of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and one mention of Americans for Prosperity, a non-profit advocacy group.
Obama organized a similar grassroots effort in 2008 – Fight the Smears - that involved more than 1 million supporters, campaign aides said.
Republican National Committee spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski said the initiative reflects a desperate attempt to spin Obama’s negative track record from his first term.
“The Obama campaign is organizing propaganda teams to deceive voters because Americans are catching onto the reality that Obama’s record doesn’t match his rhetoric,” Kukowski said in an email. “How else will they mask the broken promises like introducing another trillion dollar deficit or the fact that the president continues to recycle the same proposals without ever seeing results?”

The President really have you Right-Less folks frothing at the mouth! This is a very good initiative since we all know what you Right-Less plan to do. You plan to lie. Let us all be honest with each other and just admit and accept what is a fact. You people lie. The President’s team know this and plan to call you on it.

The beauty of it is that the GOP doesn’t have to lie. All they have to do is gather all the video clips from in which Obama says one thing then contradicts himself months or years later and play them back to back. It would probably yield a full-length movie.

Will Mao lover Anita Dunn be directing this media group again? After all her husband Robert Bauer is Obama Chief legal advisor.
Remember in 2008 Anita Dunn admitted the Obama campaign CONTROLLED the MEDIA?
Sorry Obama, but America has awakened and realized WHO your media lapdogs are: MSNBC,NBC,CNN, CBS and yes ABC. George Stephanopoulos was part of the Rahm Emanuel, James Carville, Jim Begala 6 am call to discuss the shill of the day when Rahm was at the White House as Obama’s Chief of Staff..
Will ABC admit that George Stephanopoulos’ producer of his program is IAN CAMERON, who just so happens to be married to Susan Rice, the US Ambassador to the UN?
MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski ‘s father is Zbignew Brzezinski; who worked with Bin Laden during Russian invasion of Afghanistan.
The Liberal MSM’s only give “fluff questions” to the anointed one, but attacks Rick Santorum re working women and then have the AUDACITY to ask Santorum if he plans to have any “married women working in his Administration”…….

The right is found out to be lying much more often than the left in independent fact checking sites.
Come on, just remember the last presidential election and the numerous crazy lies thrown by the right: Obama was erroneously said to be born out of the U.S., he was a ‘secret’ Muslim, he didn’t write his best-selling book, etc.
And the left lied about McCain how?
Truth teams sounds like a great idea for both political parties. :)
As voters we should demand truth from out political leaders and aspirants. If they will okay an ad or supporters running an ad that has false information, they don’t deserve to be our leaders.

May I expand a bit my previous thoughts that contained all that is within our current and recently past purview regarding these roundabout and raucously riling issues? Thanks. Let me expand on that a bit: the concentric metrics of Obama spasms in maledictory attempts at reconciling with wacky weirdsters from the left has resulted in the degenerate deconstruction of the maladies of misty mists afflicting his naughty attempts at radical reelection. He made a mistake, it can be ceremoniously cretinized and rectified by November, with luck and more jock-strap like support from sycophants everywhere. Surely and sanctimoniously, craven charts and gluttoneous graphs surreptitious stats can aid in the visual and experiential experiences of pontificatory propaganda on and surrounding our egregious attempts at marauding and marranging the moronical masses who no not knowingly know which dire direction to praise, plead, or stumblingly stumble, or even truculently trot. Heed my advice and info contained solidly and slippery within, or just be a clear dummy or a prancing poltroon.

Calling them ‘Truth Teams’ is a rather silly election year term. Naturally his haters jump all over the name and ignore the reasons why he needs to do this. Republicans lie about him all the time. They lie about their own records. They lie about pretty much everything and anything, pretty much all of the time. Having people counter those lies is a must. The Right Wing swallows those lies like candy. But the Moderates and the Independents don’t need to. Since unlimited anonymous cash will be spent spreading those lies, a push back is definitely warranted.

Which gives my opinion less weight than it would have if I was one of yours and actually makes it even less appropriate for me to tell Americans how to vote. Counter-productive. It’s a typical schtick. Happened a lot last election also. The reason is simple. Some goofs and gullible people will take a “foreigner’s” view more readily than that of a fellow American, so fake foreigners (and some real foreigners) flood onto the sites to post. Still a pathetic scene. Almost as pathetic as abc deleting legitimate posts, and protecting their pet (or paid) posters.

I honestly don’t care about Obama’s past at this point. It is prologue. Look at what his presidency has become. It is one giant community organization effort to shift money from those that have anything to those that don’t regardless of effort, life choices, character or merit. In every instance the ends justify the means for this administration no matter how petty, ugly or deceptive. If you’re for it, you’ll support him and if you’re not you won’t. Seems simple enough.

The truth is in the facts. Not lies or distortion. Plain cold facts. Fact is, he has not been able to deliver on all his promises. Like closing Gitmo. Fact is that this is because Republicans put a clause in the NDAA that year that forbid any defense funds from being used to build or prepare a facility on the mainland to house the prisoners. Anybody can look the facts up. But they won’t take the time because they are too busy watching Faux Noise to bother.
Am I saying he is perfect? No, of course not. But he is far ahead of the competition in the real world, and that so scares the competition that they have to make up their own version of reality.

Sign me up.
Let me start with this:
““The Obama campaign is organizing propaganda teams to deceive voters because Americans are catching onto the reality that Obama’s record doesn’t match his rhetoric,” Kukowski said in an email. “How else will they mask the broken promises like introducing another trillion dollar deficit or the fact that the president continues to recycle the same proposals without ever seeing results?””
This statement is, front to back, a LIE. All of it. I am calling B.S. on it right here and now.
Citing FACTS and NUMBERS to counteract unsupported and/or vague claims as made constantly by the Right is not “propaganda”. Propaganda is repeating the same LIES and BUZZ WORDS over and over again (as the Right does) and ignoring the FACTS (“no birth certificate!”, “no jobs!” “death panels!” “failed policies!” “Muslim!” “Socialist!”) in an effort to influence the views of the public.
Obama has made it clear he IS going to run on his record and why WOULDN’T he? He pledged to bring bin Laden to justice and DID. He vowed to work to improve the economy, and he HAS, with over 3 million private sector jobs added during 23 straight months of private sector job growth to date. He vowed to end the wars AND fully fund the Veteran’s Administration and is keeping those promises. He made sure ALL the TARP money Bush signed away was PAID BACK with interest. Libya is liberated and Ghadafi, one of the biggest supporters of terrorism since the Nixon years, is dead without the loss of a single American life. The list goes on and on.
The response of the Right is to raise a machine-gun barrage of misinformation and distortion of that record (in the hopes that their low-information base will simply swallow their rhetoric whole and not bother to verify). Oh, and to distract with hot-button issues like abortion, gay marriage, Sharia law, and even BIRTH CONTROL.
These people have no shame. They have no moral center. They will do WHATEVER they have to do to WIN, be it making secret deals with terrorists to hold American hostages until after the election or undermining the economic recovery and playing politics with the lives of millions to make Obama look bad leading up to an election.
They are masters of spin who live by the Nazi mottos of “repeat a lie often enough and people will believe it” and “the bigger the lie, the more people will believe it.”
(one leaked memo from Reagan’s campaign urged GOP operatives to simply repeat the phrase “tax and spend liberal” ad nauseum…nevermind the facts…and people would come to associate it with the opposition.)
It is vital that they be challenged whenever they distort or LIE (which is virtually everytime they SPEAK or WRITE)…their machine-gun barrage of propaganda must be countered with a machine-gun barrage of TRUTH and FACTS. We cannot allow them to control the language or define the issues (as they are so skilled at doing).

Finally, you posted something I agree with. Yes, most Americans are politically ignorant. They often vote for the person whose name they most recognize from all those TV ads, or they vote a straight Party ticket. The influence of something like the human gas bag Rush Limbaugh is undeniable. The Right believes every word he spews, just like they believe every word they hear on FOX. There is no Left equivalent for Rush. There is no Leftie with the ungodly influence like Rush has over his Ditto Heads. The electorate in this nation is dumb, and getting dumber by the day. Mostly on the Right, but somewhat on the Left as well.

MOJO: “There are no “independent fact checking sites”. They all have an agenda, and not a one can be trusted. You have to become your own fact check source and dig hard to find the facts.”
Baloney. Snopes is the gold standard of un-biased fact-checking of all those mass emails and conspiracy theories/urban legends (if more Right-wingers would check this site before forwarding all their tripe about how Obama banned religious-themed ornaments on the White House Christmas tree (Bush did that) or even eliminated the tree altogether (balderdash) our in-boxes would be a lot clearer.
The BLS, the Census Bureau, CBO, IRS and many other sources, both governmental and private sector (such as the private companies which regularly do their own surveys of job growth) are non-partisan, reliable, and are the best places to find the ACTUAL data/numbers/facts.
Think-tanks with an ideological bias (most of them), Fox “news”, radio commentators, and others putting their own spin on or even MAKING UP the facts are the worst sources.
The denial that there are any reliable sources or facts/figures out there (and/or the assertion that certain sources are somehow privy to the REAL truth which is being otherwise concealed from us by some vast, evil conspiracy) is part and parcel of the ANTI-INTELLECTUALISM that is running rampant on the Right lately.
Conspiracy theory, superstition, vague claims, paranoia, and general misinformation rule, and logic, facts, figures, history, and science are all suspect or rejected outright.
Coupled with the intolerance, anger, militarism, and anti-government sentiment common to that demographic, it is an ominous trend that should be countered at every opportunity.

Funny that you attempt to convince me that no-one cares and implant an attitude of apathy when YOU are here probably as much as I am cheering on the “other team”. Why do YOU bother, since no one cares? Hmmm?
There are plenty of us who care, and care deeply. We follow, discuss and engage in politics and current events and we VOTE. Obama was elected by a landslide with the largest voter turn-out since 1910. The fact that voter turn-out tends to be so low and that so many of the electorate tend to be low-information voters only makes it all that much more important that those of us who ARE informed and active remain so.

Even as we speak and fight the lies and deceit of this regime, their Budget Director is spreading outright lies about the budget process…(the following from ABC News…)
WH Chief of Staff Errs on Senate Budget Rules
As President Obama prepares to unveil his FY2013 budget Monday, White House chief of staff Jack Lew this morning was asked by CNN to defend the Senate’s refusal to pass a budget in more than 1,000 days.
“You can’t pass a budget in the Senate of the United States without 60 votes and you can’t get 60 votes without bipartisan support,” Lew said. “So unless… unless Republicans are willing to work with Democrats in the Senate, [Majority Leader] Harry Reid is not going to be able to get a budget passed.”
That’s not accurate. Budgets only require 51 Senate votes for passage, as Lew — former director of the Office of Management and Budget — surely must know.
White House officials did not dispute that Lew misspoke. When asked about the discrepancy, a White House official said “the chief of staff was clearly referencing the general gridlock in Congress that makes accomplishing even the most basic tasks nearly impossible given the Senate Republicans’ insistence on blocking an up or down vote on nearly every issue.”
The issue highlights the difficulty the White House is having running against an obstructionist Congress when half of that Congress is controlled by Democrats, who obstruct things for their own reasons. In this case, political observers believe Reid is reluctant to have Democrats vote on a large budget full of deficits and tax increases that Republicans can use to run against them.

“Truth Teams” has an Orwellian ring.
Even more disturbing, the administration announces its “truth teams” the day after the Jack Lew, the White House chief of staff, falsely claims (twice!) on national television that Republicans in the Senate are responsible for the Democrats’ failure to pass a budget.

I recall another transformative figure that sought to rescue his nation from the brink of disaster, monetized his national debt, instituted federalized health care, and ran on a platform of hope and change. He too had a truth team, headed up by Dr. Joseph Goebbels. Funny how history has a way of repeating itself. That country was full of brainwashed fools that depended on the central government for everything, too. And they also abdicated all power to the great leader and his administration. Funny.

It is almost like a orchestrated plan, as if they all share the same leader. I find it a little disconcerting as no one knows who the actual leader is. The head of Media Matters for America — now out coordinating a new super PAC to help President Obama get reelected — is operating his nonprofit organization in close coordination with the Obama White House, a new investigative report out Monday says. David Brock, according to the Daily Caller, has collected a $250,000 annual salary for his work at MMFA, which includes daily screeds against Fox News Channel and other media outlets that allow conservative perspectives in their reporting. Brock’s group, founded in 2004, is spending $20 million this year in a campaign to influence news coverage that sheds a positive image on the current administration as well as progressives and lawmakers in Congress. And the campaign is going well, according to a former employee who told the DC that “virtually all the mainstream media” has used Media Matters’ research. “We were pretty much writing their prime time,” the ex-employee was quoted saying of MSNBC.

Wow after reading some of the wild eyed respnses to an article about telling the truth is remarkable but what should one expect from a party that has such blind hatred of the President of the United States. A recent study by Brock University explains how the less intelligent are attracted by the conservative message, especially one of bigotry, hatred and racism. Media outlets such as Fox News and various right wing radio, television and bloggers spew this hate filled message and it is picked up by the eager, dumb witted masses who don’t bother to research the truth. Speaking the truth is not a strong suit for right wing media outlets either. Several studies by such groups as Farley Dickinson University and the University of Maryland to name a couple have shown that people who view Fox News are less imformed than those who watch no news and the results are the same for other right wing media outlets as well. Facts are a funny thing. They lead you to the truth which is what the article was about in the first place. Just Sayin

ExCUSE me, but what I contributed here was the TRUTH. Look it up. I stand behind every fact, figure and statement I post, because I HAVE looked it up and verified it to be factual. I refuse to allow myth, lies, distortions and conjecture to stand unchallenged when I encounter them.
A little history on me: I have worked full time for most of my adult life. As did my late husband of 23 years. We each owned and operated our own small businesses for years, as well as working for others for years. We paid our taxes. We created jobs. We voted in every election (national AND local) Both registered Independents/Unaffiliated voters. We had 2 kids (now 19 and 12) both of whom we supported, financially and otherwise.
The only time either of us ever took “welfare” was several years back when he became disabled due to a genetic condition diagnosed late in life and had to go on full disability. We went on food stamps for a while. So we got SOME of the taxes we paid in over the years BACK during a time of crisis.
He died at 45 (without insurance OR the on-going care he needed to extend his life BTW, due his “pre-existing condition”…even through Medicaid/SS, there is a 16th mth waiting period for health coverage. He was already dead by then. Lest you think people DON’T die everyday in this country for lack of affordable medical care.)
Currently, I’m attending a university full-time, finishing up my 2nd degree (with a 3.80 GPA to date…I graduate President’s Honor Roll/4.0 GPA with my first many years ago). I also work part-time. I decided to further my education after the economy tanked in 2007-8 and I’d spent 8 mths on unemployment unable to find a job despite sending out dozens of resumes a week (an excellent resume, BTW). Only time in my LIFE I’d collected unemployment or been unable to almost immediately find a job.
My daughter and I receive SS survivor benefits (my son is 19, in college, and no longer receives them). NOT “welfare”; we are getting back what my late husband paid IN, nothing more or less. It is HIS money, not YOURS.
It is interesting that you assume anyone who differs from your narrow political perspective MUST be a “leech” or deadbeat. Do you also assume I’m Black or Brown? (I’m not, FTR…Scots-Irish, English, French…father a 1st generation American and a Marine; military service on my maternal side going back to the time of Andrew Jackson, who married a direct ancestor of mine whose relatives served as Generals in his administration.)
I voted for Obama because I honestly thought him the best candidate. And I intend to vote for him again because he still is AND has done a fantastic job thus far, all things considered. I watched the Republicans drive this nation into a ditch (as they have done before…study history re’ the Great Depression). I have no intention of giving them the keys back now that Obama and Co. have pulled it out and gotten it back on the road and running. I care too much about my kids, myself, others, and this country as a whole.
“Hate much” yourself? You don’t know me. You only think you do.

DAVID KRAMER: “To forget history is to repeat it!”
As we did with the Bush administration. It took the Republicans and their supply-side economics, union-busting, tax cuts for the rich and big business, deregulation, and laissez-faire governance 12 years to bring about the crash which led to the Great Depression. It only took them 8 years this time (but to be fair, they had 8 yrs of Reagan and 4 yrs of Bush Sr. to build on).
One defintion of insanity if doing the SAME thing and expecting DIFFERENT results. Under Obama, we’ve had 23 straight months of private sector job growth, 3.2 million new ps jobs created, and highest number of job postings this month since Aug. of 2008. To go BACK to the SAME failed policies of the Right that COST us 8.75 million private sector jobs, grew the debt the record levels, and embroiled us in 2 decade-long wars would be the HEIGHT of insanity.
No thanks.

You know, all you folks who are characterizing this effort to get the truth out as propaganda and double-speak, you COULD just take the time to LOOK UP the claims made by both sides and VERIFY which is true and which is false.
See, if the info the Obama team is putting out IS true, it is NOT propaganda and the “Truth” label is NOT double-speak. (And I can attest that it IS true because I HAVE verified it through apolitical, un-biased, reliable sources, just as I am required to do for information I cite in any paper I write for a university class…it’s not hard.)
Instead, you’d rather swallow the propaganda of the GOP and other biased sources whole and jump to a knee-jerk reaction before even examining the claims of the Obama team (which are on his site, for all to read…go for it).
In such a way, you reveal yourselves to be the REAL purveyors of propaganda and double-speak. (“Peace through strength/war” being a classic example of this practice).
It’s lame.

Compare Nazi Germany to what this one is doing. You will see the similarities. The Democraps and the Republicants both are the same party in this as they are appeasing the enemy that should not be there. And Obama and his henchmen/women ARE the enemy of the US. How? Compare now to 20 years ago and come back to me. Why are we supporting the Muslim Brotherhood? Also why do over 27 members of Congress not pay their taxes including the head of the Treasury? Why does the “Spouse” order what our children will eat but her brood can eat anything? This is suppose to be a Republic of the people and for the people. Not for a “CHOSEN CLASS.”

If the economy is doing any good, it is in spite of Obama rather than because of him. He is one of the most idelogical presidents that I can remember, he has been obstructive of free enterprise, his admin has stopped businesses at every turn, and the only reason that he is doing as well in the polls as he is is because the media is so mired in the left, they seem to be afraid to say anything negataive about him. Why aren’t more people talking about the high gas prices and what the administration has done to cause that? He has almost stopped drilling on federal lands, they have refused to issue permits to drill, but allow other countries to come in and drill. He is so corrupt that is ungodly, and anyone who does independent research would know that, but none of that is mentioned by the media, they just make excuses for it. When Bush was in office, and the gas prices went high for a few weeks, they were all over him, saying it was his fault, yet all of them are giving such a pass on Obama for it.
