If anyone has questions about the Catholic teaching on birth control, please go to Catholic.com or see the Catechism. Catholics are not “Bible only” Christians and although they use and accept the Bible, there is much more to Catholicism than what’s in the Bible. Many teachings, Church documents, etc. are part of the faith.

As for the people who say “Republicans are stupid”.. that is a moronic attitude because your hatred blinds you to truth. The truth is that BOTH parties have their strengths and weaknesses. No party is perfect, no human is perfect, and just because YOU don’t want people to have religious freedom doesn’t mean they don’t have a right to it. This is the USA, if you don’t like it here there are plenty of other countries you can choose to live in.

Regarding women who use birth control for medical reasons, that is garbage and misinformation. Doctors go to town and give girls/women the Pill for everything, even acne. The Pill doesn’t help anything, it only moves and masks the problems… and people wonder why the cancer rates are so high! On Women of Grace (I think that’s what show it was) they interviewed a doctor and he hasn’t prescribed the Pill to anyone in YEARS! There are better ways to solve problems than giving someone a Pill… like addressing the problem!

As for the people who say “they’re going to do it anyway”… why enable them? They can pay for their own stuff then. If they want to do it then they better buy their own contraception. The STD rates are super-high right now and the problems will only get worse if Pills are given out for free, since people “love” each other and don’t use condoms (and condoms have a 1 in 12 chance of failure due to slippage and breakage anyway). I also imagine the rates for things like breast cancer will increase as time progresses. People “go green” about everything except their bodies…

The Democrats’ comments show either their intellectual dishonesty or their obliviousness to the issue here. It is not birth control. No one is proposing outlawing birth control. It is the question of whether churches control those charitable institutions that they establish. If they come to believe that their charitable establishments will be turned to purposes that they believe are evil, they will certainly stop establishing such institutions, and will gradually close the existing ones. Ask yourselves: why do Catholic Charities and Lutheran Child and Family Services no longer provide adoption services in Massachusetts? Is Massachusetts better off as a result?
