Hmmmmm?..... I wonder why the largest rate increases in the rate that our nation's debt climbed, over the past 34 years (since it first went over $1 Trillion), both occurred under so-called "fiscal conservative" Republicans, i.e., Ronald Reagan and G.W. Bush?

Carter Debt Increase equaled $280 Billion
...and Reagan's equaled $1.8 Trillion

Clinton's Debt Increase equaled $1.6 Trillion
...and G.W. Bush's equaled $4.9 Trillion

Oh, that's right, because we had two "ball-less" Republicans who introduced "Tax Cuts" (i.e., the Reagan Tax Cuts and the Bush Tax Cuts) without having even an ounce of leadership courage to deal with cutting spending. In fact, both Reagan and G.W. Bush actually increased spending while they were simultaneously introducing their "Tax Cut" initiatives. ...... LOL! ..... that's how we got in this mess.

The republicans will do everything they can to protect the corporations and big business. Their mantra of "only the private sector can create jobs" is false, just look at defense spending.

If they mean the working middle class as the private sector it's true, because the middle class creates demand which leads to jobs.

If they mean big business they are dead wrong. Companies are not in business to give us a job. If they can maintain productivity with fewer employees they will.

Jeremiah (9:02 AM); Let me play Devil's advocate here. What do you do when your proposal drives a large portion of the domestic U.S. economy underground? I think 23% is too high.

What this article should really focus on is how to make everyone accountable and pay their fair share. For that to happen we must repeal the 16th amendment and shift the IRS's job to collecting a 23% fair-tax for all new goods and services. Anything less is rhetoric and not worth the bits of "0 and 1" used to display it.
