Saddam Hussein was a weapon of mass destruction.

According to The New York Times, “he [Saddam] murdered as many as a million of his people, many with poison gas. He tortured, maimed and imprisoned countless more. His unprovoked invasion of Iran is estimated to have left another million people dead. His seizure of Kuwait threw the Middle East into crisis. More insidious, arguably, was the psychological damage he inflicted on his own land. Hussein created a nation of informants — friends on friends, circles within circles — making an entire population complicit in his rule”. Others have estimated 800,000 deaths caused by Saddam not counting the Iran-Iraq war. Estimates as to the number of Iraqis executed by Saddam’s regime vary from 300-500,000 to over 600,000, estimates as to the number of Kurds he massacred vary from 70,000 to 300,000, and estimates as to the number killed in the put-down of the 1991 rebellion vary from 60,000 to 200,000. Estimates for the number of dead in the Iran-Iraq war range upwards from 300,000.

No they didn’t. The two Christian zealots Bush and Blair stove-piped, cherry picked and isolated unsubstantiated information because they thought they were doing God’s work.

Some ‘God’s work’ – somewhere around 100,000 Iraqis killed, women, children and men. Many more maimed.

The U.N.weapons inspectors – who were back on site and getting access during the lead-up to war in March 2003 – were finding absolutely nothing in Iraq.

Hans Blix had found no stockpiles of WMD and had made significant progress toward resolving open issues of disarmament noting “proactive” but not always the “immediate” Iraqi cooperation as called for by UN Security Council Resolution 1441. He concluded that it would take “but months” to resolve the key remaining disarmament tasks.

Bush decided to blow his load prematurely – and as such, the United States (and the coalition of the coerced) BECAME the weapons of mass destruction. Tens upon tens of thousands killed.

There’s the great irony – the ‘evil’ weapons of mass destruction turned out to be the United States of America. Shameful for all Americans, if they’re even half conscious.

The national debt was doubled on his watch. The deficit went over a trillion dollars on his watch.

9/11 was on his watch. “Weapons of mass destruction” was on his watch. North Korea developed and tested nuclear weapons on his watch. Iran developed their underground nuclear facility on his watch.

The Republicans have no record to run on, so they attack the current president. Sorry we are not going back.

Yes, we understand. When the Republicans had both the presidency under Reagan and a Senate under the Republicans, the national debt TRIPLED. The United States went from a major international creditor nation to a major international debtor nation.
