ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - Is Rick Santorum set to wage a war against pornography? A statement posted on his official website suggests that as president, Santorum is prepared to take a more active role in fighting the distribution of pornography, an issue he believes the Obama administration has not adequately addressed.

The statement reads, "America is suffering a pandemic of harm from pornography. A wealth of research is now available demonstrating that pornography causes profound brain changes in both children and adults, resulting in widespread negative consequences. Addiction to pornography is now common for adults and even for some children."

"The Obama Administration has turned a blind eye to those who wish to preserve our culture from the scourge of pornography and has refused to enforce obscenity laws. While the Obama Department of Justice seems to favor pornographers over children and families, that will change under a Santorum Administration," the statement later continues.

During a media availability Friday, reporters asked Santorum about his decision to post the statement, which Santorum noted was placed on his website three weeks ago, and why he felt it was such an important topic to address.

"I don't know about you, but we talk about a lot of the issues that are out there. And when I was in the United States Senate, I worked with John McCain on an Internet pornography bill, for the federal level, and subsequently they did pass an Internet pornography bill which this administration isn't enforcing, and it was brought to our attention and so we said no," Santorum told reporters outside the La Zingara restaurant. "We actually respond to questions that we get into our campaign when they say, 'What are you going to do about these issues?' And when we respond, we post them up on our website."

Santorum argued that President Obama has not adequately enforced the law when it comes to pornography.

"And the response is, we'll enforce the law. I don't know what the hubbub about that is. We have a president who is not enforcing the law, and we will."
