“The left is using the gay marriage debate and other issues in an effort to divide the country and drive attention away from President Obama’s failings on the economy”???? Okay, there are so many things wrong with that statement. First of all, the LEFT is dividing the country? That kind of argument is what’s dividing the country! A lot of conservatives seem to be under the impression that they can SCARE people into voting for them by telling the public that the “left” in conspiring against them… to divide the country? The gay rights debate is not an attack on any party, in fact, it’s not even an attack at all. This kind of angry, paranoid, and time-wasting response to it, however, is. But no, those sneaky liberals are campaigning for gay rights, just to make Republicans look like big meanies!!! It couldn’t possibly be to, I don’t know, GET GAY PEOPLE MORE RIGHTS? Senator Rubio, believe it or not, this is an important contemporary issue pertaining to a minority group that continues to suffer in the country that you are paid to represent, and one that, I believe, reveals a lot about a politician’s way of thinking? For example, do you think for yourself, put your citizens’ best interests first, and use fact and logic to back up your arguments, or do you go into defensive mode, point fingers, and fall into the same pattern of victimization you seem to find repulsive? A simple honest, “This is what I believe, and I’m not ashamed,” might serve you better than crying wolf and going back to talking about how Obama is destroying Amerca. That’s a difficult point to make, because it’s not true – just more anger and fear-based partisanship. Surprise surprise. If people would just open their eyes, it’s pretty clear who’s trying to hold an honest debate, and who’s using diversion tactics.

This guy is a smarmy, slick, greasy, fast talker…gives me the creeps. Anyone watch Trueblood? I’m totally getting Steve Newlin of Brotherhood of the Sun from this guy.

Sorry, but this is an important issue to millions of people, regardless of whether or not it works into your election strategies. And your claims of indignation from one side of your mouth, while you cast the same types of implications that you are condemning out of the other side, are not fooling me.

Keep your faith to yourself, it should not dictate the personal lives of others. That is extremist fundementalism, regardless of which faith it originates from.

Not just division but DIVERSION. They don’t want to have to talk about anything substantive like the economy, jobs, national debt and foreign policy because they know they are doing a TERRIBLE job. So they put forth red herrings like this and reporters like those here at ABC keep letting them. ABC and others… DO YOUR JOB! Quit your Obama lovefest and be the Fourth Estate again.

Marriage is from God [although, I would contend procreation is from God, marriage is man's way to make a buck and require you pay a license.] Only men and women are allowed to do this. Or if you believe in Same Sex Marriage you are a Godless Communist bent on destroying America. Or you are a sinner who will burn in He!!. Or or or they just keep going. The Democratic attitude is more – everyone should have the same rights, no matter your race, religion or orientation.

Of course you should not be demonized! If that is what works for you then by all means do it. HOWEVER, when you pass legislation and laws making everyone conform to your view then that’s where the problems begin.

This from the guy whose party’s admitted strategy to re-elect Bush in 2004 was to increase fundamentalist nutjob turnout by putting ballot measures on in as many swing states as possible? You shouldn’t throw stones when you live in a glass church, Rubio.
