The republicans believe in the fantasy that if you take money out of the pockets of the middle class and give it to big business and the wealthy the economy will grow. They don't understand that demand drives the economy. Why would any business man invest and hire more people when his customers have no money to buy his products.

Spending cuts will do just that. We need to be spending money instead of hoarding it.

It's simple common sense.

What made this country great is people believing in themselves, and others, and developing goods and services that others want. People buy these goods and services, and those who put forth the capital are rewarded. No country in the history of mankind has become great by the government deciding who the winners and losers should be. What President Obama has done with Solyndra and others is simply the wrong approach. President Obama still wants to blame others, even when it was his administration that approved the loans. How pitiful of him.

ACDC2012: the opposition are worse. They believe in Ayn Rand, they want to go back to a world that Alan Greenspan called a bad decision that did not work. He was huckstered by Ronald Reagan and Ayn Rand that the markets would self correct. Yes market do correct until they reach a tipping point; and that tipping point was seen during the Clinton Years where Proctor and Gamble sued the first hedge fund company that sold them worthless derivatives. A county did the same investment at the same time, it was Orange County in California who declared bankruptcy. There was no self correction the Clinton Treasury had the demand that the banks bail this hedge fund out. We paid for that with banks getting in the derivative hedge fund gambit. In 2007 it unraveled in 2008 it exploded.

These Republicans today want to go back to that kind of world that was proven it did not work. They benefit from that kind of unregulated world. Make no mistake, they like to call names, they like to vilify Democrats with names, but in the end it is these GOP minded fools who are ruining the country. It started with the 60% filibuster where the Founding Fathers knew 50% is required. The Queen of England has her feet in this through the powerful Bilderberg group. It is treasonous and is the sole reason we cannot get anything done. England caused the build up in South Carolina in 1850 and they are now messing with our political system. It is time to clean house and vote in 60% Democratic Senators and the same balance in the House and change the voting requirements back to 50%. We are on a slippery slope to sliding backward and it will cause the US to resemble Greece. The ones who will win is Great Britain, we ready for that?

The notion of lending money is the problem here. An asset is an asset whether it is money or real property. Instead of lending the money into top 1% elitists hands who squander, It is far better to lend assets instead. Federal Land is rented at very low rates. Building are built to Federal Standards of working conditions by the Feds. Machinery negotiated on is provided through the SBA as a loan, and followed up that it is not a Cadillac equipment for unproven technology.

Then and only then can equity partners be brought in. Instead of the reverse now the process runs as a variable cost engine for raw materials, the electricity and gas, and employee costs and other minor variable costs. The pressure is then on for a CEO to get it in gear. They get 6 months. They are performance managed. They cant do it replace the executive team with people who can and do the thing again and again until an executive team and make it work.

Instead what we have is private investment coming in to make a speculative killing and they did. Tax payers are left holding the bag just like the trans continental railroads of the 1880's. We can do better and we should but instead we have a system that causes speculation instead of the system that causes job creation and successful return on investment..

There is a path for the Bain investments and the VC's, just not at the outset. The assets are hard to squander and have a cash relationship to cash which can be squandered and int the Solyndra case were.

JO, How dare you call them communists? They call themselves " progressive" nowadays. See, "progressive" or "forward" is a code for communism but WE are not allowed to know, LOL.

Forward or backward 30 years? God bless America in 2012, we can have our liberty and freedom back. The election of 2012 is a Bastille revolution where WE will take our country back. History tends to repeat itself.

Well, Obama surrounds himself with like minded people, manipulators and liars. Obama has tried to nationalize businesses at taxpayers expense. Take that Elizabeth Warren, claims to be part Cherokee thereby getting her access to a Harvard professorship as a bonafide minority, plagiarizes receipes for her cookbook and now according to the Boston Herald, Ms Warren:• Purchasing a foreclosed home at 2725 West Wilshire Boulevard from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for $61,000 in June 1993, then selling it in December 1994 for $95,000 — a 56 percent mark-up in just 18 months.

• Buying a house at 200 NW 16th St. for $30,000 in August 1993, then flipping it for $145,000 — a 383 percent gain after just five months.

• Lending one of her brothers money at 9.5 percent interest to buy a home at 1425 Classen Drive for $35,000 in August 2000. He sold the place three months later for $38,500 — a 10 percent gain in 75 days.

• Providing her brother with financing to buy a $25,000 house at 4301 NW 16th St. in 1994. He sold the property four years later for $42,000, a 68 percent increase.

• Giving her sister-in-law a mortgage in 1996 to buy a $31,000 home at 2621 NW 13th St. Three years later, the sister-in-law sold the place for $45,000 — a 45 percent boost in three years.

• Providing her brother with a loan in 1997 to buy 901 NW 22nd St. for $90,000. He sold it some two years later for $106,000 — an 18 percent increase.

• Giving her brother a mortgage to buy 3836 NW 12th St. in 1997 for $26,000. Nine years later, he unloaded the home for $45,000 — a 73 percent j
At least Romney is honest in his business dealings and isn't a communist.

DEANBOB

See , we agree on something

The President should have 90 days to deploy troops in case of an emergency. After that the Congress has to declare war. With that declaration should have to come an automatic draft, no college deferments, men and women included and if you go to a foreign country you’re a criminal

For those that don't believe in war or killing for religious reasons, they would have to do their time in the Peace Corp or Vista or like the Amish, go in as medics or corpsmen.

No one is going to fix this economic mess in a hurry. President Obama can't but is trying. Mitt has no solutions. I'll stick with the President.

What we need is another FDR, he would not fool around with this "do nothing" Congress. He put 6 million people back to work after 1 year in office. Shut down the banks until they got some kind of deposit insurance and did what he had to do.

He let the republicans in Congress explain to the American people why they just didn't want to see him get re-elected while they did nothing for the country.

."..Bain never looses their money on these deals" , Is it a sound investment is for? $80 billion invested in a design to failed program does not sound like a sound investment, period.

" ...They borrowed money..". Excusez moi, They borrowed money so they could have enough working capital to obtain failed company and turned it around for a profit NOT a LOSS as in Obama's unsound investment in Sun Power. ENR1, Solyndra..just to name a few. Oh, How 's about Fisker loan to have automobiles made in FInland? I would neither call it a sound investment nor jobs creation . Fishy, fishy....
