Million ended up getting their health care through emergency wards at hospitals - at great expense to the country.

"why is health care for poor people beyond the scope of our Federal Government?"

Poor people didn't get healthcare before Obama fixed everything? How does making healthcare run with the efficiency of the Post Office, and the bed-side manners of the DMV help anyone?

A Hidell, that is fine with me. I have seen a specially trained mid-wife nurse for many annual exams as well as delivering, under supervision of a gyn, all 3 of my kids. As long as those PA and NP's are well-trained to spot problems that they would refer to the gyn, that is just fine.

Librarian53, do you know that under Obama Care you will not be seeing a GYn, only a PA or NP for annual exams?

Lib53, I'm against Corporate Welfare too.
It's time to take the nipples off the CEO beer bottles and tell them to grow up and compete on their own without help from me.

Maybee, as a woman you should know that every woman needs two check-ups a year, one with her regular doctor and one with a gyn. Planned Parenthood is providing those gyn check-ups to women with low income or no insurance such as the unemployed.
Men don't need two different types of annual exams. And those with migraines can talk to their primary care physician for medications.
Sheesh!

Noz, why is health care for poor people beyond the scope of our Federal Government but corporate tax breaks for outsourcing American jobs isn't?
Why should the oil industry still be getting over $4 billion in tax breaks every year when they have record profits and it doesn't change oil prices since that oil is sold to the highest bidder on the world market? By contrast the money Planned Parenthood gets from the federal government largely through payments for very poor people through Medicaid, is $363 million.
$4 BILLION for no benefit to the public vs. $363 million to give very poor women tests that may catch diseases that can kill and maim, as well as prescriptions for birth control pills for family planning (smart if you are already that poor) as well as for numerous awful medical conditions that birth control pills help.
No benefit to the public vs. saving lives and alleviating suffering. What choice should this supposedly moral nation make?

Planned Parenthood should be privately funded only.
It's good ideas such as these that are beyond the scope of what the Federal Government ought to be doing that has made our deficit so huge.
I doubt Elizabeth Banks understand this.

“And why is an actress’ opinion on any political issue important?”
It is because she is a person.

What makes her a person? A heartbeat? Brainwaves? By that definition so is a baby in the womb -but unlike rich Hollywood celebrities, they can't speak on their own behalf.

“The services that they provide — what is it, 95 percent of them don’t involve anything controversial.”

So if you only murder 5% of your customers, you're doing pretty good.
