Interesting how many comments I see on this thread whose authors still continue to attempt to credit George W. Bush with ending the war in Iraq. Yep, I also remember that sign strung across the air craft carrier saying Mission Accomplished. But perhaps what is most disturbing is the several folks n here who blatantly disrespect this President and the office which he holds. It seems to me, at least, that the only things these people from the tea publican party have to say, is a bunch of lies attempting to scare the American electorate AGAIN! We all recall McCain saying America would not be safer with this President because he supposedly lacked foreign policy experience. Sorry Senator McCain: That accusation did not pan out. While the Romney campaign wants us to do the following: First, "trust him with the details. Second, he refuses to release his taxes. Third, he has engaged in a consistent campaign of lying about the President, perhaps a strategy adopted by those working with Rove, including internet operatives. Fourth, when confronted with these inconsistencies, the Romney campaign simply says: "We do not have any loyalty or responsibility to the fact checkers." (emphasis mine). What is perhaps most disconcerting is the utter silence by many on the RIGHT when so much is surfacing (which is all true) about Romney and their utter hatred for a man that only they know the REAL underlying cause of.

the candidate the troops/veterans have donated most to is Ron Paul.
This war is never over- not until we get our bases out of their country and give a reason for their people to not hate us, and remove the constant presence of war from their lives. ron paul is the only one who wants to get at the root of this problem. we have been over their since that USSR crap in '79

"He" brought the war to an end... Tell that to all the military men and women who fought the fight, and some gave all in doing so...
And then... he turned around and sent how many soldiers back out into another war with Afghanistan???
C'mon! Wrong way to scoop up votes... Just wrong...

The withdrawal of American military forces from Iraq has been a contentious issue within the United States since the beginning of the Iraq War. As the war has progressed from its initial 2003 invasion phase to a multi-year occupation, U.S. public opinion has turned in favor of troop withdrawal. As of May 2007, 55 percent of Americans believed that the Iraq war was a mistake, and 51 percent of registered voters favored troop withdrawal. In late April 2007, the U.S. Congress passed a supplementary spending bill for Iraq that sets a deadline for troop withdrawal, but President Bush vetoed this bill soon afterwards. All US Forces were mandated to withdraw from Iraqi territory by 31 December 2011 under the terms of a bilateral agreement signed in 2008 by President Bush. The U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq was completed on 18 December 2011 early Sunday morning.

Liberals obviously don't even know how to use google. All they can do is call names and shy from the facts.

If anyone thinks that either Romney or Obama going to a disaster area is a help, you really don't appreciate how much their coming to "assess the damage" complicates the real work that is going on the the afflicted areas. There will be plenty of opportunity to assuage their suffering aftyer the area is stabalized.

Obama's pandering to the troops at Fort Bliss is so embarrassing. Talking to them about the budget?
He should be congratulating them, not trying to involve them or use television time for political campaign. He is so shameless and --- his use of me, me, me -- and I, I, I-- so arrogant!!

If we were not still at war and in a world, where peace, in any form is fragile and fleeting, this announcement would be more exciting. It is like announcing that we just captured or killed a high Al Quaeda leader. There seems to be no end of them in sight.
