Lumping Akin with Romney and Ryan is totally legitimate, given that Akin and Ryan agree on damn near everything (Ryan is just slightly more articulate about it), and Romney has previously expressed support for a “personhood amendment” that would not just ban abortion without exception, it would define abortion as having the same legal penalties as murder.

BTW, Edwin: Obama has not had any “massive failure in the economic front”. Obama’s policies are the reason we still have a functioning economy. And maybe you didn’t realize this, but there aren’t 400 million people in America.

Is it still possible a majority of American voters can be hoodwinked into ignoring the Obama administration’s massive failure in the economic front and award him another term? We’ll see during the elections. If they do, they have only themselves to blame. It seems to me that anyone who does not know how to use the tremendous powers of the US presidency to improve its citizens’ economic lot does not deserve to remain in that seat a minute longer. He’s been given a chance that almost all of the 400 million or so Americans do not get and he blew it. He’s been weighed and been found wanting.

What am I missing? Can someone explain to me why Romney, Ryan and co. demand that ‘UN’born babies absolutely must be policed and protected by government at any cost and under any circumstances, while at the same time they adamantly demand that we cut funding for food and care to ‘NEW’born babies because we spend too much on them? How’s that again? Do you know the U.S. has a terrible infant mortality death rate – one out of 230 newborns dies in our wonderful country? What about their rights? Where’s your outrage on their behalf? Nope? None? Instead of outrage, you’d cut these precious little newborns off from much needed food and health care so you could what? – use the money to police abortions? Give more tax breaks to the wealthy? PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME! IT’S CRAZY!

Are you all absolute idiots or just ignorant? Regardless of how you feel about the bill, the term “forcible rape” is neither new nor meant to downplay the seriousness of inappropriate sexual intercourse. Used by the FBI in gathering statistical data on violent crime, “forcible rape” is simply used to describe those rapes which involve violence or the threat of violence, as opposed to say sexual intercourse between two parties who are more than willing to have sex, but due to age or position of power differences, cannot do so lawfully. In every state in the union, rape involving violence – forcible rape – always carries a more severe penalty than inappropriate sexual intercourse between persons whom the law forbids – an adult screwing around with a willing teenager, for example. Understand that I am not defending the legislation and will not offer my opinion on it, but I cannot for the life of me understand all the confusion over the term “forcible rape” as if Akin and Ryan made it up.
