Church subsidy of contraception should be determined under the same rule as church requirement of a statement of faith for employment. For certain types of business, sectarian organizations have a right to require adherence to a statement of faith as a condition of employment. In such cases - and if the employer does require such a statement - then the sectarian employer should be able to apply doctrinal restrictions on healthcare subsidies including contraception. In other words, the church has no obligation to provide contraceptive coverage to the church organist or the choir director.

On the other hand, churches often run other types of businesses - hospitals, for example - which receive federal funds for certain services and therefore are NOT permitted to discriminate in employment on the basis of religious faith. When the sectarian-operated organization is otherwise prohibited to limit employment to bonafide practicing members of its specific faith and and adherents to its doctrine - or where the sectarian organization elects not to so limit employment - then the sectarian employer should not be permitted to limit benefits available to non-adherent employees simply on the basis or ITS specific doctrine.

I don't think the Hebrew school would employ a Gentile in some position and then demand that the employee not spend his or her wages on ham or bacon! In like manner, the Catholic employer of a Protestant, Jewish or simply agnostic worker should not prohibit that worker from purchasing contraceptive coverage as part of his or her employee healthcare plan. Otherwise, the employer is imposing the employer's religion on the employee in violation of other law.

Man I am so tired of ill-informed Republicans. What happened to my party? Taken over by right wing extremists. Ugh.

Am I the only one who thinks the Republican party has allowed their desperation to win to cloud their judgement concerning representative Akin. It is amazing to watch a party devour one of their own because they feel he may impede their drive to take back the White House. Even more disappointing is the lack of voices willing to defend representative Akin's right to press on in his bid to be elected. Isn't this the same Washington mentality that got us into the problems we now face as a nation - everyone following the party line instead of being independent minded and having the courage to tell the big wigs what for. Especially when they recognize the big wigs are pushing their weight around and over stepping their bounds to the detriment of those they are suppose to serve. All we've heard for the past week is how Akin's insistence on staying in the race will jeopardize Romney's chances at defeating President Obama. But sadly an overwhelming majority of these attacks have come from the Republican party. The Republican party needs to take step back and realize that if Akin is defeated and this costs Romney, a large portion of the blame will go to the fact that they turned off a large percentage of the electorate who disapproved of the way the party was so quick to cannibalize one of their own.

I think all Christian pastors should remove themselves from the political arena and do as Christ did. Jesus knew that governments will not not change people's hearts. Pastors should be out in the mission fields changing the heart of this nation one person at a time - not supporting presidents or elected officials. No disrespect intended. We need to follow the example of Christ.

The University of Colorado, who has accurately predicted the Presidential elections for the last 34 years, predicted Romney will easily defeat Barack Obama in November. Romney has closed the gap and is leading in most of the swing states. America has awaken to the lies and deceit of Obama. And now, economists are saying the unemployment rate will go up the end of this month, the GDP continues to tank, and all Obama can do is run a 'dirty' campaign full of lies. What amazes me is that Obama has TOTAL control the first two years of his presidency and did absolutely NOTHING to help the economic conditions of our country. All Romney/Ryan have to do is continue to talk about the economy, something Obama can't and wont talk about because of his dismal record. I was amazed this morning that MSNBC admitted that Romney/Ryan are winning the fight on MediCare...I LOVE to watch the DemWits implode! Oh, BTW, the new Obama documentary exposing the lies of Obama is kicking butt in the box office. A solid Democrat told me just today that they went and saw this documentary and have now changed and will vote for Romney...she said the movie put her stomach in knots after seeing the deceit of Obama. I LOVE IT! NO PLAN.....NO CLUE....NOBAMA 2012!

Don't expect the Republican right to respond. They don't have a clue. And most of them know they're lying about Obama taking away anything from Medicare recipients.
