In reference to today’s financial/economic situation, he said of Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, and perhaps the GOP in general, “....he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules, ‘unchain Wall Street.’ They’re going to put y’all back in chains.” I, for one, do not think that the Democratic Party speaks only to African-Americans. So when a mixed audience is told “They’re going to put y’all back in chains” it cannot be about just the African-Americans. It was about ALL of America. And before you jump on me and call me stupid or racist or both, please consider the fact that Biden laid out imagery – ‘unchain Wall Street’ and “put y’all [the working people of America] back in chains.” It was about ALL those who are not sheltered and insulated by wealth and have their lives adversely affected when banks go wild. Clearly the chains are those of financial/economic hardship and the consequent limited and/or impoverished lives. That’s not exclusive to African-Americans, so it’s not about race is it? Biden may not be the most eloquent, but he was spot on this time. He said nothing racist. Having said that, I will say that my observation is that many of the GOP have demonstrated such beliefs and attitudes and expressed intemperate views that convince me that, given half a chance, they WOULD put African-Americans in chains. Are Romney and Ryan among those types? Well..... Joe Biden spoke to an audience comprised of a variety of people from the diversity that is 2012 America. Paul Ryan is frankly weak on spending cuts if you really read into it, but he does understand and communicate the budget better than anyone in Washington with maybe the exception of Ron Paul. Paul Ryan with RUIN Joe Biden in the debate. Talk about most anticipated television of 2012. Obviously no one is going to put anyone BACK in chains, but remember who kept African-Americans oppressed for so long to begin with – the Democratic party. Biden did not say "They're going to put y'all back in chains". Biden effected a phony "Black" accent and said "He gonna put 'yall back in chains". And the next sentence, which this blog's video does not show, starts with "He said he gonna do nuthin' about stoppin' the practice of outsourcing...." This is racial pandering of the lowest order. And it should be reported as what it is, not fixed up to protect the guy who said it. Try to even begin to imagine how media would be reporting this if it were Mitt Romney or Paul Ryan saying exactly the same words in exactly the same way. What is this compulsive urge by so many in mainstream media to help Democrats along this way? Isn't journalism supposed to be reporting things as they are, not adjusting the fact to do favors for one side over the other? At least that's what I used to think it was. And maybe at one time I was right. But apparently that is not the way of things anymore. Too bad for journalism. And too bad for us. Could it be that Romney knows very well that no big job increase has ever resulted from a tax cut to the rich but simply wants a nice big tax break for himself and his friends? It is estimated that Romney would get almost $3 million dollar tax break if he passes that legislation. $3 million a year, think about it.
