So Obama can use his power to save one base so he can get their votes and close another in a state he knows he can't win. This sounds like a dictator to me.

Okay, okay. So where is the punchline on this one? Just YESTERDAY at the press briefing, Carney had this to say to a reporter:

REPORTER: Can you talk a little bit about why the president is going back to the same area of Akron, Ohio tomorrow that he has visited before? And in Mansfield the local paper is reporting if President Obama has his way his Air Force One arrival would be one of the final flights into the Mansfield airport, because the president wants to do away with the mission for the 800 guardsmen at the Mansfield.

JAY CARNEY: I’ll have to take the question, I’m not aware of that particular issue. In terms of why is he is going to Ohio and Akron--

REPORTER: No, to that area of Ohio, Mansfield and Akron, I mean he was just there on the bus tour.

CARNEY: There is not an inch of Ohio that the president does not love to visit. [laughter] It’s a great state, my wife’s home state.

REPORTER: In terms of Mansfield, can we get you to take that question?

CARNEY: Sure. I’m not aware of even the policy implications or what issue this is.

So, YESTERDAY Carney knew NOTHING about "the policy implications or what issue this is". TODAY he says this:

“As part of national security strategy, the president has supported cuts,” press secretary Jay Carney told reporters on Air Force One as it landed at the threatened guard base in Mansfield, Ohio. “There is a redundancy in terms of the aircraft that this National Guard air base is home to, but the president is committed to finding another mission for the National Guard unit at this particular air base.”

Now we are to believe that in just the overnight hours, not only was Carney updated on what's going on, but informed that the president is COMMITTED to finding another mission for the National Guard. Shouldn't he have known about this commitment for a while? If Obama was (is) committed, then his plans/agenda should have been well known to his administration, including CARNEY. And, might I add, the folks of 179th Airlift Wing probably should have been informed earlier that Obama had these COMMITTED plans so as not to worry about losing their jobs.

Of course, it COULD be that Obama NEVER WAS COMMITTED to finding another mission for this Wing. It COULD be that Obama is merely blowing smoke to win votes. It COULD be that Obama is caught with his 179th Airlift Wing pants down and is trying to worm out of the mess. I just find it very hard to believe that the press secretary for the POTUS had NO CLUE what the reporter was speaking of yesterday. Hmmmm....
