Jon Stewart, Bill O’Reilly to Debate

Sep 18, 2012 10:44am

Jon Stewart and Bill O’Reilly,  two of television’s most-watched political commentators, are planning to face off in a presidential-style debate next month.

Stewart and O’Reilly will take political questions submitted by audience members as well as questions by host E.D. Hill, a contributor to CNN and former host of “Fox News Live,” during the debate, dubbed the “Rumble in the Air Conditioned Auditorium.”

Stewart, who hosts a political satire show on Comedy Central, and O’Reilly, who has a talk-show on the Fox News Channel, will tackle campaign-season topics one month before the presidential election. The debate is scheduled to take place Oct. 6 at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Both men released statements Monday cheekily announcing their participation in the debate.

“I’m excited to debate Mr. O’Reilly,” said Stewart. “I believe this will be a very enjoyable night for fans of our programs, political junkies, partisans and people who just enjoy yelling.”

“I had no idea my agent signed me up for this,” O’Reilly said. “How can I get out of it?”

Tickets to the event will go for $75 and $100. George Washington students will be allowed to purchase tickets for $25.

The debate will be available via an Internet stream for $4.95 per view, at www.therumble2012.com. Half the proceeds will go to charity, according to event organizers.
