I've seen at least one post where the poster questioned what has Obama done about it, and my question is what has every Republican post-Nixon done about it? Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Carter all managed to decrease the debt as a percentage of GDP, so why did that trend not continue under Reagan and both Bush'es? To the point about Obama campaining over the past four months, what the hell has every President done if when they ran for re-election? Comments such as this speak to the ignorance of some of the electorate, because they obviously don't know when Congress takes summer recess. I could care less whether or not you like the current President, just don't be stupid enough to believe that anyone who proposes we return to already failed policy is the right guy for the job. Here are few facts for people to chew on: 1. Unemployment is not at a record high nor has it ever been at record high under Obama. The post-depression record high was set in December of 1982 during Reagan's first term when unemployment hit 10.8% . Reagan actually had 27 months of his presidency where unemployment was over 8% and 10 months where it was over 10%. 2. While the unemployment rate is higher than we'd all like for it to be, the net-unemployment ratio is lower under Obama than Bush. When Bush took office in 2001 unemployment was 4.2% and when he left office it was 7.8% which is an increase of 3.6 percentage points. Obama enter office with unemployment at 7.8% and it was 8.1% at the end of August. If Obama left office today the net increase would only be .3 or 3/10 of a percentage point. Not saying that things are great, but job losses come quick and recovery is slow. Reagan left office with unemployment 2.4 percentage points lower than it was when he became President. Reagan and Clinton were the only 2 President's thus far in 40 years to leave office with unemployment lower than when they took office. When people talk about the $16 trillion national debt, they tend to discuss this as if Obama caused all of it. Romney seems angry. He thinks he can just buy a controlling share of America and that should decide the election. Now that there is this thing called voting, that involves these dirty, irresponsible wastrels.... and he might actually have to do something to appeal to them.... he's having second thoughts. I mean, it's insulting, right? He's Mitt Romney! He should not have to stoop. We are lucky! Right? Yeah…. Romney seems angry.
