Spend more money that we can’t afford. Obama plans to cut military spending while expanding our military presence in the Pacific. Do more with less. Both candidates plan to continue and expand our century old practice of forcing our way into every conflict on Earth. They both plan to force American taxpayers to fund the defense of every nation on Earth while leaving our borders unguarded. Neither candidate has said a word about increasing the pay for our military personnel especially our enlisted personnel. Reduced funding will only result in lower pay for soldiers and less equipment for them to do their jobs. Jobs that they shouldn’t be doing in the first place. At least Romey’s plan will give the military the funding for the jobs he will order them to do. Obama’s plan will issue the same orders without the funding for it. I don’t like Romney’s plan but it’s not as bad as Obama’s Romney plans to spend billions to expand our military presence around the world.

So what's wrong with being successful? I'd rather associate with the successful person than a freeloader. Are you a freeloader,Robert M III ? It sound like you are. Prove it to me that I am wrong. A nation does not run on an army alone. While we should always honor those who served the armed services and thank them for their sacrifices, a nation needs farmers, doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers, scientists, construction workers, lawyers, administrators, entrepreneurs etc. A nation should be run like a business at least as far as balancing budgets and accountability to the investors (we the people who pay our taxes), if the business does cannot be run on the trillions in tax payer revenue, it is time to cut costs and deliver to the customers. The safety nets should not promote chronic dependence on government for jobs and/or survival or subsistence. As an independent, I would urge Americans to think about the nation going forward first and foremost. Can we afford to threaten our national security by spending and spending and piling on our debt or keep passing the buck to our children and grand children. Just like companies that were not making a profit went down by giving hefty bonuses and pay packages to their top executives, we cannot afford the luxury of the cost governing being astronomical. Romney cannot afford to raise defense spending until we have a balanced budgets and payed off the national debt and Obama cannot afford to add on 1.5 trillion debt for every year in office and keep pushing the debt ceiling sky high. Automatic cuts have to be in place so that we take away the toys from the politicians who have become too powerful and we the people too powerless to shape the destiny of the nation. Fiscal cliff will be the much needed wake up call that will marginalize politicians and restrict their stranglehold on the nation's purse strings. As a veteran I can only imagine how frightening it would be to our current military if this administration continues. and to the poster above who said "Barrack will never put you in harms way unless it's warranted"... you forgot to say, "unless you're an ambassador" You do realize that Obama’s administration just left 34 people to die in Benghazi because they were as Panetta said (and I paraphrase), “too ignorant and scared”, and it was only when those few Heroic Navy Seals disobeyed orders that 30 of them were saved. Obama was never subject to the draft. Romney is one of those GOP chickenhawks, the type who thinks others should go fight the wars while he stays home where it is safe. Go to nhgazette.com for a whole list of chicken hawks. Some of the names are the biggest promoters of going to war. Romney found a way to evade the draft. Obama was never subject to the draft.
