Even if the 7.8 % rate is accurate that’s what it was when Obama took office. After increasing US debt by 5 trillion dollars the US has nothing to show for it except high debt, still high unemployment and sky high gas prices. Not to mention the Mid East on fire and Iran about to get nukes. Even the folks calling Welch “senile” should not be senile enough to give our “bumbling fool” of a President another four years.

Have any of you commenting here ever heard this ‘traditional, senile headed old fool’ talk in the last several years? It defies my intelklectual understanding of how someone like him could have been the head of GE. Why is ‘rich America’, why is Corporate America including the US Chamber of Commerce rooting ‘against’ this evident positive economic recovery? Because they are greedy…and just like their candidate do not give a ‘rat’s patootie’ about 47% of this nation.

Actually, these numbers are rather consistent when taken into context of the past year. There have been similar drops and even one larger one [.04%]. THere is no way BLS is “cooking the numbers”. If you know ANY statisticians, and yes, I do, they are maniacal about the CORRECTNESS of their figures. BLS is ultra conservative and will do everything necessary to make sure the numbers are not only correct but not available to anyone – even the WH – before their proper time. The Republicans simply do not like that things are starting to improve in a slow, methodical way. Housing is looking better too.

Just Imagine how much better our country would be if they would work for the people in this time of great recession instead of their parties elites.

Just Imagine if they would have paid for those wars, tax cuts and policies the republicans put in place through the bush years instead of saddling it all on the backs of the american children.

but those household survey numbers are very very high…highest since 1983 and just one month before the election and after obama’s miserable debate performance….so i can see why these numbers are raising questions…
