The GOP's rapid response team shot out a clip of Biden's speech in which he said "yes we do" want to raise taxes by a trillion dollars. The clip cut out Biden's next words - "in one regard" - in which he explained that those trillion dollars would come only from the "super-wealthy."

"On top of the trillion dollars of spending we've already cut, we're going to ask - yes, we're going to ask the wealthy to pay more," Biden said. "You know the phrase they always use. 'Obama and Biden want to raise taxes by a trillion dollars.'Guess what? Yes, we do, in one regard. We want to let that trillion-dollar tax cut expire so the middle class doesn't have to bear the burden of all that money going to the super-wealthy. That's not a tax raise. That's called fairness where I come from."
