Did you know that Steve Martin is not only a famous actor and comedian, he's also a home-crafts expert? And that he supports Bob Kerrey?
Until today, Martin was not particularly known for his ability to wad paper or his leanings in Nebraska's 2012 Senate race, but perhaps that's about to change.
Martin recorded a video endorsement of Kerrey, the former Democratic Nebraska senator and governor who's running for Senate again this year against GOP nominee Deb Fischer. A friend of Martin's, Kerrey officiated at his wedding to Anne Stringfield at Martin's Los Angeles home in 2007, People magazine reported at the time.
In the video, Martin claims to be a home-crafts expert and explains to viewers how to wad a sheet of paper. As he speaks, Martin's endorsement of Kerrey is offered on non-wadded sheets of paper, held in front of the screen.
Martin's statement reads:
My friend, Bob Kerrey, is running for the US Senate in Nebraska. He is a principled man whom I have known and respected for many years. Whether you are a Democrat or Republican, he deserves your vote, because … he cares about the people of Nebraska … he considers both sides of every issue to determine what is best … and, he has already served Nebraska successfully as your governor and senator for 16 years. But most of all … He is sane. And his ideas are workable. Please consider Bob Kerrey as a wise and thoughtful choice as your senator from Nebraska. Also, please consider me as your home crafts authority.
Martin's endorsement notwithstanding, Kerrey is an underdog to Fischer. ABC News rates the race "lean Republican."
