T Nelson...I hope that what you say is true. I too voted GOP for far too long. My 'epiphany'? Caribou Barbie as a (LOL) 'legitimate' VP candidate. And that caused me to take an 'honest good look' at the 'constituency that that idiot represented. And that's when I said..."no more of that". Besides...anyone with a brain and who paid any attention at all over the past 4 years could clearly see "who and what" the GOP represented. The VERY, VERY wealthy. I hope that more and more moderates...join us in the support of the middle class.

After 50 years as a republican I can no longer suppport that party. Ignoring 98% of of our population to block a tax increase for the 2% earning more than $250,000 absolutely makes no sense. The republican party risks big losses in 2014 and 2016. How very sad!

The politically smart move by the President is to let us go over the fiscal cliff. The vast majority of Americans will know who to blame and the republicans will lose most of their House seats in 2014.

The President won't do that however because he doesn't want to hurt the middle class further. I think he'll let the wealthy have their tax cut extension that they don't need and make up the revenue by cutting subsidies and tax loopholes. He will also get the revenue by eliminating the foreign investment tax break that leads to out-sourcing.

LOl...LOL...the best posts on this topic are the ones who are right wingers who have wanted to go beyond the end of the year- i.e. go over the cliff. LOL...talking about having "No capital" to spend then if you are the GOP - and getting all the blame. That must really give Boehner 'heartburn'. There currently are some 'smarter' more visionary Republicans out there who want to do a deal right now for the 98%...but it looks like they up aginst their 'establishment leaders'...as well as Grover Norquist, on that one. Definitely NOT a good time to be a Republican representative.

NOZ

I'll turn liberal if the liberals are smart enough to not have their taxes raised because the wealthy are doing so poorly you conservatives think they need all the help they can get.

I'm still waiting for Barry's Spending Cuts Proposal.
Where would he like to cut spending?

On the revenue side,
Is the President going to support raising the Capital Gains Rate to 30%?
He talked a lot about that during his campaign.
