Had the guy ran into that school with a knife would there be a massive media campaign for banning of knives? Guns are a tool to defend yourself with. The person using the gun is the killer always has been. I’m not going to get into whether or not the shootings where actually staged by the government but I do say that its awfully convenient to want to piggy back on the fear of its citizens to push through legislation that chips away at our 2nd amendment rights bestowed upon us by our founding fathers. But wait banning guns is the solution right? Aren’t gun laws REALLY strict in Connecticut? Did it prevent the killer? I would also like to add some fun facts, In 1640, the very first gun control law ever enacted was passed in Virginia. It provided that blacks could not own guns. Because the leaders in the country where mostly KKK. Hitler passed legislation to disarm jews (March 18, 1938 (Reichsgesetzblatt I, p.265) Seems history is repeating itself and people are not even realizing it. Google operation FAST n Furious where the government sells military grade weapons to drug cartels to scare its citizens when they wreck havoc. There’s an audio book about it in amazon for less than $20! It seems governments try to control guns every time they want more and more control. Don’t be foolish and just hand it away. Guns protect from all evils foreign an DOMESTIC just look in history if you haven’t noticed it tends to repeat as criminals don’t listen to the laws only law abiding citizens do.

Your father was wounded fighting agaist a government which disarmed it’s citizens before shoving the troublemakers into mass graves and ovens. Judging by your attitude about freedom, I’d say he got wounded for nothing.

Angus..If ever a knee jerk reaction was fully and completely justified, it is now. I am a hunter by the way. I enjoy and believe in the American heritage of responsible gun stewardship and sport. It should be preserved and continued as a matter of positive cultural value, but not as some misguided notion of what the 2nd Amendment means. My combat wounded WWII veteran father let me hunt varmints with his Mossberg semiautomatic 22 rifle that held 8 or so longs in a magazine housed in the stock. All that is good. I know the difference between good clean fun and insanity. After Newtown, anyone advocating for the weapons and culture surrounding the circumstances of this shooter and the tragedy they have wrought is insane and should probably be locked up. Plain and simple.

WOw and still no one sees its more of a control thing. theres tons of things worse, acohol related deaths, why wont anyone talk about that? its far worst than assault rifles. Its so abvious but yet no one wants to touch on that or make a big thing about that. How about drugs? how about HIV? so many other things are killing more than assault rifles. But i bet once they take out assault rifles and eventually guns, the only ones who will have them are criminals and law enforcement. Taking guns away wont stop criminals. Look at drugs, they are illegal yet all the criminals and addicts can get their hands on them. So why take them away from the ones who do follow the rules. And what happends if we lose our guns and lets say just a thought, if marshall law ever happends. How will be defend ourselves. If that ever happends im going to be finding all of you who say you want us to be stripped of our guns and ask YOU to protect me. Then once something happends the blood is on YOUR hands.

Sameagain..I am a life NRA member, and alway will be. That said, I do not own any “assault type” weapons. As a little FYI, a true assault weapon is defined as a weapon possessing selective-fire capability, with a switch that can go back and forth between fully automatic and semiautomatic rates of fire. I am far from mentally ill, and to group gunowners, strictly based upon a hobby activity, as mentally unstable shows the folly of your arguments. That would be very similar to me stating that Liberals are mentally incompetent…..due to their views. I may disagree with them, But I do not view them as mentally unstable . By your statements alone, you exhibit a knee jerk reaction to the repulsive killings, rather than a logical and well thoughtout plan of action.

A gun by itself will NOT kill anyone. rather, it is the PERSON that kills. The new laws MUST focus on health records and diagnosis as a way to keep guns out of the hands of those who are mentally unstable. This case showsa that clearly. It also shows that te mother was aware that her son was unstable, yet apparently she covered it up for years. If this i true, the blame lies squarely on her.
