Boehner is really ticked at Obama, because he knows the President is right on this tax raise. But, he also knows that Grover will have his job, next election. These billionaires that support Grover, don’t want their taxes raised, and Grover is their club!

The republicans are committing suicide.

They are finished in 2014 if they continue to hold the middle class tax cut hostage to the tax break for the rich. Their spending cuts are the same as in the sequester and will have the same result.

I have no doubt they will stand on the bow of the USS Republican, waving their ideological flags instead of fixing the leaks as it swiftly sinks into the political ocean.

The President needs to quit negotiating with John Boehner.

Boehner has no power or huts bah. He’s afriad the tea party republicans will support Eric Cantor for Speaker if he goes against them.

The President should try to set up negotiations with Grover Norquist, the real power in the Republican Party.

Dalmation: Payroll taxes are not paid only by the employer, they’re paid by both the employer and employee. The employer and employee EACH pay 6.2% in Social Security taxes, and the employer and employee EACH pay 1.45% in Medicare taxes. Also, the 47% who didn’t pay income taxes last year included, among others: several thousand millionaires; elderly living on fixed Social Security income, which is exempt from income taxes because they’ve already paid income taxes on their earned income from the years they worked and paid into Social Security; active duty military in combat zones who have certain combat pay for themselves and their families exempt from federal income tax; working families who get an earned income tax credit, a Republican idea made part of the tax code years ago. So, your claim that “they haven’t been paying much, if anything at all for programs they’ve been using” is laughable, especially for those millionaire federal income avoiders. Most elderly have paid income taxes and payroll taxes most of their working lives, paying for other people’s Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits, and in their old age are now receiving the same benefits themselves, terrible according to you. Military personnel and their families who have been fighting one war for 11 years and fought a 2nd elective war of choice for over 7 years, neither of which was paid for during the Bush 43 administration (all off budget, emergency supplemental spending bills, meaning no offsetting tax increases or spending cuts, just borrowed money), getting a break on federal income taxes, even more terrible, I suppose.

ONLY 53%? That’s less than normal for this kind of thing, it’s usually at least 60%. Maybe the Republicans should go through with the cliff diving if it’s only 53%.
