Shame on you who judge others. Shame on you. It is your own unhappiness that doesn't want to see others be happy. Do what you think is right for YOU and your happiness, and wish that upon others for themselves. We were meant to be different. WAKE UPPPPPP
Its amazing to me the people who think they are better then others. You keep thinking that and you will only be unhappy. Embrace people for who they are, now that leads to true happiness.
Why are we here? To judge? To discriminate? To insult? I think not. We are here to love.

Make no mistake, this is not a Christian church. The ministers are not of the Way and they do not follow Jesus. This church is as pagan as they get and it's name as the National Cathedral needs to be removed from it. Shame on them. It's a National Disgrace!!!

Finally! The church grew a brain! Time for the rest to follow! Time for a reformation and an editing of the Bible to now include the truth instead of man-made idiotic lies of homophobia!

This is truly unfortunate. Many Americans accept gay unions as a civil matter but object to religous consecration of those unions. The Episcopal Church, a small denomination, has decided to use its stewardship of the National Cathedral to disparage the beliefs of the vast majority of people of faith in this country and throughout the world.

The cathedral in Washinton, DC is, unfortunately, no longer the nation's church. It has become a symbol of diviseness and a leftist agenda. Regretably, it is likely that many will no longer take part in its services. Certainly, given this decision, it is inconceivable that Ronald Regan or John Kennedy would wish their funerals to be held there.

To use God's house as an instrument to drive people apart is, quite simply, a sin.

ALEC @ 3:34 - That was SUPERB! ! ! Bravo. And thank you for saving me the trouble of finding those examples. I was just about to start reading the relevant parts of the OT to do exactly that when I thought to read your post. Again, very well done.

ANGELINA @ 3:15 - Okay, Genesis explains why a heterosexual man leaves his parents to start his own family. So what? Genesis says nothing about gay men or women, who are still able to procreate by the way. Oh, and just to demonstrate the differences between different versions of the Bible, mine says:

"21 So the LORD God cast a deep sleep on the man, and while he was asleep, he took out one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 The LORD God then built the rib that he had taken from the man into a woman. When he brought her to the man, 23 the man said: “This one, at last, is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; This one shall be called ‘woman,’ for out of man this one has been taken." 24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body."

To those of you who would oppose same-sex marriage based upon a quite strict and literal interpretation of the Bible, I would question your logic. I am a man of great faith. I put my life into the hands of God day after day and I cannot believe that anyone who would prescribe themselves under the name of Christianity would so blatantly defy the most fundamental principles handed down to us. Our role as christians, as human beings molded in the image of our Lord, is to show love to all. It's not our place to be judging anyone. Any logical being though, christian or not, should understand that the Bible is a gift handed down to us to be understood for meaning, for the lessons and concepts, not a book of strict rules. The Bible has been translating and edited over the course of millennia. Many times we have caught intense flaws within those works, there are so many that we can't possibly have found. But if you would be so strict as to interpret every single line of scripture to be taken as a word of literal and direct law, I would question your opinion on the following. Do I withhold the right to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7? Should the men and women of the American workforce be put to death should they so egregiously choose to work on the day of the Sabbath, as commanded in Exodus 35:2? Should the children of our peewee football teams and the players of the NFL and the fathers throwing a football around with their children be punished, after all Leviticus 11:7 says that touching the skin of a dead pig is unclean? Should I disown my mother because she wore two different types of fabric yesterday or punish the farmers of America for growing two different types of crops side by side (Leviticus 19:19)? Should I be punished for shaving this morning and, in reality, shouldn't we be waging a war against barbers in this country (Leviticus 19:27)? Last weekend, while at waiting at the doctor's office, an older gentleman walked in the room, should I be punished for not standing (Leviticus 19:32)? And while you consider those, let me ask you this, why are we deporting illegal aliens and why are we even discussing the idea that they should be removed at all? Should they not be conferred citizenship? After all, Leviticus 19:33 tells us that a foreigner or alien in our land should not be mistreated. In fact, they should be treated as if they were native-born.

I try not to judge others. But so many of the dark and ugly hearts I've seen in these comments has driven me to a state of true disgust and shock. As a man of color, it's disgusting to see people call a "new" type of marriage unnatural based upon what's been conventional in past terms. My grandparents were told the same of their marriage. I expect change to be slow however. I understood that people needed time to change, but for fellow christians to evoke the name of God as a cover for their bigotry and hatred, that is something that I cannot bear to read in silence. I pray for you.
