What exactly is “popular science”? How about the advances in biology, based on evolutionary theory, that created the biotech industry?

President Thomas Jefferson was a scientist . He believed in knowledge gained by systematic study and testing – NOT simply belief. It was part of Jefferson’s argument for a new, democratic form of government that was SELF EVIDENT – not directed by one religious faith.

Every time the Right Wing denies scientific facts, it rejects those anti-authoritarian principles of our nation’s founders. Science has ZERO to do with “socialism”, and denial of science places our nation’s competitive future at risk in a global economy.

Fortunately, the majority of voters rejected the marriage of religious fundamentalism with massive industrial money and the Right Wing’s efforts to crush reason. Unfortunately, in our Congress, “facts” are opinions, so the policy become stuck in the mud.. They have no common denominator—FACTS—that can bring warring sides together. The Congress of crazies no longer bases legislation on knowledge, so it has become slow at solving our very expensive problems.

Americans need leaders who have have the education, wisdom, and courage to govern in the science-driven 21st century. We have no time for backward old ideologues.
