Article II, section 3 asserts that, "The President shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed..." Since the Constitution does not specifically define executive power, critics of executive orders argue that these two passages do not imply constitutional authority. But, Presidents of the United States since George Washington have argued that they do and have used them accordingly.

You're way too late. You should have been lobbying when the Republicans took power in 2001 and before the major economic collapse.

The U.S. takes in enough tax revenue to meet all of the debt service requirements. THERE IS NO WAY WE WOULD DEFAULT ON THE DEBT by failing to increase the debt ceiling. We're being misled to believe that we would ELECT to NOT PAY interest on the debt. That's a choice not warranted on the basis of revenues being collected by the government. If Republicans can't manage to get entitlement reform out of this prime opportunity, THEY WILL NEVER GET IT. I will have no reason to vote for another Republican (ever again) if they continue to go along with the reckless liberal agenda to grow the entitlement nation. Why not just hasten the end of the US? Vote Democrat until that day comes. We'll join a big chunk of Europe in their financial misery, just as Barack wants.

For the same reason I mentioned above to COMMONSENSE. Our Senate and House (republicans and democrats) are bought and paid for.

I wonder why the DEM controlled Senate has not followed the WH lead, set an example and propsed a bill to ban assault weapons. Sure to goodness Harry, Franken, Durbin. Schumer and the boys would want this.Wouldn't they.

COMMONSENSE

I have no problem throwing all the rascals out and starting over.

I would have one stipulation as I have said many times on this blog.

All new members of Congress will be held to the same standards as judges and jurors. If they take any money or largess (campaign money, etc) from anyone to influence their vote they and the other party should be prosecuted and if found guilty sentenced to jail.

I no doubt that if it wasn't for the money the gun manufacturers funnel through the NRA to these members of Congress , common sense gun legislation could be enacted that would satisfy both sides in a few days.

I understand the House is going to agree a 3 month extension - plusvote on a bill that the Senate pass a budget (not done in 4 years) with spending cuts. The bill would suspend salaries for members until a bidget is passed. Finally, something that makes sense.
