It appears you are mistakenly conflating subjective truths (i.e. Coke tastes better than Pepsi) with ALL opinions and beliefs when the reality is that some opinions and beliefs are just flat out false/wrong. The right to hate is also a right. And it has consequences. See the story about the police averting a plot by a boy to blow up six people ONLY because five of them are Black and one white male is gay. Teaching hate has consequences . . . serious consequences.

Gay marriage is not a civil right. _________ JD, you’re confusing this issue with religion. Any church can refuse to marry ANY couple. But, it IS only a civil ceremony when you get right down to it. All any couple has to do is get a marriage license and be married by a justice of the peace. No need for religion to enter the picture, unless the couple chooses to do so. In summary, since marriage IS a civil right, we should not deny that right to ANY couple.

Section 5 of the law says that certain states with a history of voter discrimination must clear any changes to their election laws with federal officials in Washington. Lawyers for Shelby County, Ala., are challenging the constitutionality of Section 5. The case, called Shelby County v. Holder, will be argued Feb. 27.
