Imagine that. Even the Government says that it is only about 8-12% done. What do these appointees think we are drinking or smoking. I can tell them that I am not smoking anything , they are the ones moving to Colorado to smoke. Just go down to the border and tell me it is safe and controlled. Baloney! We have Eric Holder sending guns to the Mexican drug cartel and Napolitano is telling us the border is safe and protected. At the same time arresting our border patrol guys if they stop and arrest anyone crossing illegally. I can't believe !BC news didn't laugh out loud at the their friend Janet. But please, keep calling me (or whoever you're writing about) uninformed, unintelligent, stupid and a liar. That moves the debate forward. The administration is doing something, granted. The fact that we're supposed to accept improvement over adequacy should be instructive enough for most to see how dire the situation is. Still, I'm not naive enough to believe that a "path to citizenship" or "amnesty" will stem the flow of illegals. It will be 1986 all over again. Rinse, repeat. As noted, nobody said that enforcement hasn't been happening. However, it's been ineffective over the last 30+ years, contrary to whatever fantasy world Senator Leahy lives in. That is the entire reason for the necessity of some form of "amnesty" or "path to citizenship" being discussed today. If you find these facts offensive, I completely agree. It is offensive that our federal government has not, and does not do the few jobs it is actually supposed to do at even adequate levels. It is even more offensive that they can't be honest enough to admit that they have failed at doing their jobs and they need to take this mulligan called a "path to citizenship". I take greater umbrage when these same people want to micromanage every aspect of people's lives instead of concentrating on what they're supposed to be doing (What's a budget?). The fact that you would take any comfort in trusting the government to do anything regarding "tracking" the very people they haven't been able, or are otherwise unwilling, to track tells me all I need to know. You write about dealing in reality yet seem ill equipped for the task. Jason,

POSTED BY: EMI | FEBRUARY 13, 2013, 2:22 PM 2:22 PM Emi, what you've posted is so unintelligent and uninformed, it's actually offensive. What Senator Leahy is referring to are the many stats out there that prove that NO OTHER administration IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY of the United States has done a lot more in terms of enforcement than the current administration. It's on record that deportations his a historical high in Obama's first term and his administration has spent more money of enforcement efforts than several administrations put together in years past! But sadly, people like you will not understand; life just seems that much easier for you when you spew lies and stupidity. We have played this silly game long enough, it's time to deal with the reality. We can't possibly deport 11 million people (many of whom have US born children)! And ignoring their presence here under any guise amounts to de facto amnesty and a huge security risk for us all. I don't know about you, but I'll feel better if I knew that everyone around me was somewhat trackable by the government should their be a need. To leave people in the shadows is to endanger our own lives. This monster needs to be dealt with right away and I agree with the President: it's time! “Enforcement has been a farce and everyone knows it, which is why we have the problem and a “broken system”.
