If you are giving money to some cause because you get that money back in tax breaks is that charity?

It’s nothing more than a tax break. Why not just pay that amount in taxes and let that money do what it’s supposed to up front.

The real charitable people would give that money whether it was a tax break or not.

Barack Hussein, President: No, I think it’s – I think it’s the right thing to do…

Mike Allen, Politico: Are you confident that charities are wrong when they contend that this would discourage giving?

Barack Hussein, President: Yes. I am. I mean, if you look at the evidence – there’s very little evidence that this has a significant impact on charitable giving.

Republicans have proposed raising $800 billion over 10 years by capping tax deductions for the wealthy, including highly popular breaks for mortgage interest, state and local taxes, and charitable giving. Democrats won’t hear of capping the tax deduction for charitable giving, which they say accounts for much or even most of the additional revenue.

“If you eliminated charitable deductions, that means every hospital and university and not-for-profit agency across the country would suddenly find themselves on the verge of collapse,” President Obama said on Bloomberg TV, as reported in The New York Times. “So that’s not a realistic option.”

Lets do away with all the programs that help the poor, students, women, the elderly, etc and let charity cover those costs. I’m sure all you republicans will double your charitable contributions.

Haven’t you noticed what a great job the churches are doing by paying for social dating networks and building lavish churches.

Solopower which just opened in Sept is going down. Obama funded them with $197 million of our dollars last year. Solyndra cost us $530 million and all the other bankrupt green investments he made have cost us billions. No wonder we are in deep debt.
