That its not a "toy" as you say... Its far cheaper to purchase multiple uppers to have one rifle that can be used to hunt a wide variety of game without having to purchase multiple rifles and lowers number of firearms that can be stolen. I hunt and have a gun to protect my home. I even think people should be able to have assault weapons if they want a toy for recreation. I just believe assault weapons should be strictly controlled. Let the gun clubs sell all the assault weapons they want as long as the weapon has to be kept at the gun club. Check it out, go to the range, shoot all day then check it back in. The rifle ranges on military bases do this, except you don't own the weapon. I know this; the Founders never addressed the issue of an "individuals" right to bear arms. As I said, it was a given because of the times they lived in. The whole purpose of the 2nd amendment was the need to form militias. If the NRA and their supporters want to say they have a "God" given right to possess toys so be it. I disagree but it’s at least more honest than trying to use the 2nd amendment. MARK78

And the MAJORITY of this country just doesn't feel or think that way anymore. Gun regulation - of the common sense variety - is coming to our country whether you like it or not. And as in ALL CHANGE....it might happen slowly BUT....it will happen. A good place to start is “That Every Man Be Armed: The Evolution of a Constitutional Right” by Stephen P. Halbrook. You will learn that the issue is actually older than the invention of gun powder. Having lived through an unpleasant experience and having studied the issue in depth I just sent a little extra money to the NRA. I don’t agree with the NRA on every issue but they are the best chance for us to retain the Constitutional rights intended by our founding fathers. For those who feel the Second Amendment has outlived its usefulness I respectfully refer you to Article Five of the Constitution. If you can’t make that work for you at least be wise and honorable enough to live with that which you cannot change. I believe many of the polls were skewed and that the ACTUAL numbers of people who support people ... err gun control were low enough that Harry Reid (being the wily leader of the senate) did not want to endanger the many Democrats running for re-election in 2014! When it comes to the facts, they just don't seem to support the bans, mag limits, and extending the registrations. I disagree. Notice that England at the time banned firearms from the US? To prevent any revolt. People were able to survive just fine without one via crop and animal domestication. POSTED BY: MARK78 | MARCH 26, 2013, 4:44 PM You are absolutely correct. Some either have not read the actual words of the founders - or have highly selective retention. Not about government overthrow (thats just mentioned in the FP's)...but about individuals owning a rifle and being proficient.
