If the country is in such dire straits then the Prez needs to stop his vacation and do some work for the people of this country. I will bet you a dollar that when your kids came home and told you the Johnny was doing the same thing you didn't take that as an answer. Tue, 26 Mar 2013 19:26:56 +0000 http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/?p=840850#comment-31768162 Am I upset about the insane spending on this recent trip? Yes, I most definitely am. Not quite as upset as reading this horribly composed article made me. You basically write out what you want my opinion to be. In order to let me draw my own conclusion you are missing several important details. Right now you're comparing apples (VP trip) to oranges (Presidential trips 14 years ago). You supply no information about the past Clinton trips. How many days, countries visited... None of which should matter because you started off talking about Hotel costs of a VP trip, aimlessly made your way to total costs of Presidential trips and then on to other things. ie. fuel cost. This article seems to be composed for the purpose of making your reader mad at Democrats. There is no mention of how much a Republican President or VP spent for trips. Did Cheney stay inside for eight years? I know there is a comparison that could be made between Biden and Cheney, you just avoid it for some reason. Though I suppose I can't be too upset with you for printing half the story. Your readers don't seem to interested in the other half anyway. This reporting with bias needs to stop. Report ALL the facts and allow your reader to come to their own conclusion based on all relevant facts. This article should have included past Vice Presidents and examples of similar trips taken by them, number of people on the trip, how long the trip was, how many stops were made and even the reason for the trip. Was it a Million for peace talks, or to see the Eiffel Tower? All this makes a difference. This isn't meant to be a mean-spirited and hateful comment. Just one of several pleas to our news groups for fair, complete and unbiased reporting. However, it all starts with the reader. I urge readers to question everything. The only bad question is one never asked. Am I upset about the insane spending on this recent trip? Yes, I most definitely am. Not quite as upset as reading this horribly composed article made me. And if we had 136 rooms available in the embassy in case the VP 'should happen' to stop by, wouldn't that be waste too? I'd love to find out what, besides the room rate itself, the budget included: phone? Internet? meals for the people staying in the 136 rooms? overtime for the employees? Conference rooms (ugh, do you know how much THAT runs you?). In a world where I'm paying taxes for Chris Christie to junket off to Israel (did you know New Jersey has a foreign policy interest? Neither did I!) Do you think Mr. Reagan got free lodging in Berlin, Bejing, and the 24 other foreign countries he visited? For that matter, do you think Tower at Century Plaza gave Reagan and his staff free rooms? Presumably, the U.S. has a foreign policy interest in France. LOL...HILARIOUS!!! Yeah we have a sequester in pace, people are losing their jobs because of it...but our "DEAR LEADERS" can STILL spend our money like there's no tomorrow! Why don't the Democrats take some of that corporate cash (that they campaigned against during reelection, but now all of a sudden have decided to embrace) and buy cheaper accommodations!!! Again, your lack of research skills don't change anything other than the shallowness of knowledge you bring to the issue . .. a kind of clueless hypocrisy.
