Good point from WildAndBlue, until the paranoid "agenda" part. What agenda? Please, the "agenda" is to get justice for victims of sexual assault, and I think most of us would sign onto that. Such a smart and informative comment gets polluted easily by language that invokes the conspiracy-theory mindset of the delusional factions of the right wing.

This article should be corrected, as I am with WildAndBlue. The writer/editors don't seem to understand how the system works, and have misrepresented it in this piece.

The language at the end is wrong. An inspector general CANNOT "throw out" a federal conviction. A general officer, in the position of what's called General Court-Martial Convening Authority, signs off on the action, promulgating the sentence of a servicemember after court-martial. Either the author of this news piece doesn't know the truth, or skewed it in order to prop up abc's agenda. The only means to alter a federal conviction is through appellate review, via the Court of Military Appeals. However, the topic is definitely an issue with a bullseye.
