1. No firearms can be sold directly to an individual over the internet. The firearm is sold to a local gun dealer who processes the sale by completing any background checks and the form 4473 record of transfer.

2. Sales by dealers at a gun show comply with the same laws as if the sale was completed at the dealers place of business. Private sales comply with the federal and state rules for private sales.

3. Writers continue to promote the myth that guns flow from state with low regulations to state which are highly regulated. The Department of Justice’s own white paper Summary of Select Firearm Violence Prevention Strategies, by Greg Ridgeway, Ph.D. Refutes this when he said. “contrary to the conventional wisdom that crime guns were being trafficked across state borders from places with less stringent regulations, such as Arizona and Nevada, we found that a majority of the guns used in crimes were purchased in Los Angeles County.” Most firearms used in crime are acquired through straw purchasers 47% or stolen 26%

4. Assault Weapons per the Study “Assault weapons are not a major contributor to gun crime.” Per the FBI long guns which include Assault Weapons account for 3% of all murders. DOJ reports that they are used in between 2% and 8% of all crimes. A ban even combined with an agressive buy back program or confiscation would not have an impact on crime.

In short the Department of Justice has concluded that all of the proposed laws will have NO IMPACT on murders and crime in the US.

What would have an impact would for President Obama to direct his Attorney General to order his US Attorneys to enforce existing gun laws. The US Attorney for the District including Chicago, IL did not prosecute a SINGLE federal firearms violation in 2012.

Since Straw purchasers are the single largest source of guns used in criminal activity that would be the priority for enforcement. Yet people like Mark Kelly, Gabbie Giffords astronaut husband turned anti gun advocate, can publicly admit that he attempted to straw purchase two of the same weapons which he is lobbying to ban. He like 99% of the people who lie on their 4473 are not prosecuted. If Kelly had been prosecuted he faced up to 20 years (10 years for each count) in prison and loss of his Military retirement and benefits.

In short the existing laws have teeth. The problem prosecution of these crime is nonexistent. In short they are not career enhancing for the Federal Prosecutors.

Murders by knives, explosives, poisons, automobiles and so on are readilly available alternatives as are stealing guns or buying from Mexico. You know the illegal guns that OBama and Holder let the criminals steal!!!!!!!!
