There were no grand gestures and the media did not wait hours on end outside the hospital's doors, but on Monday, the newest member of an American political dynasty was born-on the same day that the whole world was fixated on the birth of the royal baby.

On Tuesday, former presidential candidate Mitt Romney announced the birth of his 22nd grandchild via Twitter, joking about the baby's now-famous birth date.

Like his British counterpart, whose birth facts were displayed on a golden easel, the newest member of the Romney clan is also a boy, however Romney did not announce a name.

Grandpa Mitt hasn't been shy about weighing in on his grandchildren's names in the past. Earlier this year, Romney told radio personality Dennis Miller about his reaction to learning the names of his twin grandchildren: Winston and Eleanor.

"The last few months ago, we had twins come in, and you can't believe what they're named," Romney said to Miller.

"Winston and Eleanor…But these are just darling little infants, and to have such big names on them is really something," he continued. "When I heard Winston and Eleanor I thought 'it sounds like two English bulldogs.' But they're adorable children."

The newest baby's father, Josh Romney, contemplated running for a House seat in 2008 and lieutenant governor of Utah in 2009. On the campaign trail, Josh is best known for driving the 'Mitt Mobile' through all 99 counties in Iowa during the 2008 primary campaign.
