Meet Ben, John Kerry's new puppy.

As first reported by The Washington Post's Emily Heil, the secretary of state will welcome a new addition to his family over the Thanksgiving holiday, adopting what appears to be a handsome and well-mannered yellow lab.

Kerry and his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, have two schnauzers named Stache and Clousseau, a State Dept. official confirms, and Ben is their first labrador.

He shares a first name with Benjamin Franklin, the first American diplomat, who secured French support for America during the Revolutionary War.

Not much else is known about Ben, except, as evidenced in the above photo, that he likes to hold things diplomatically in his mouth.
