Tornado Alley

I’ve been crashing today for World News.  This map from NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla, will tell you exactly why:

65 reported tornadoes in a few hours, though such numbers tend to go down a bit when some of the reports turn out to be of the same funnel clouds.  Still, that’s a lot, even for the single busiest region for tornadoes in the world.

The dotcom version of the story is HERE, if you haven’t seen it already.

300 tornadoes in three months, 48 known dead so far this year, as of 5pm EDT.  Those numbers are high, but not records.

Wow, thats quite a number. I lived in Enterprise Alabama for around 3 years when I was in the Army about 5 years ago. It is a very nice place to live. Sad about the kids a few weeks ago. Lets hope it calms down as the year goes by.

Those numbers do seem quite high, at least compared to those of recent years. So, what are the records?
