Gore and Bloomberg Have Closed-Door ‘Climate Crisis’ Meeting

This is a post from Richard Esposito of our staff: New York City’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg, arguably the nation’s most prescriptive politician on issues from gun control to diet, met with Al Gore today at City Hall to discuss a greater involvement by the mayor in the Nobel Prize winning former vice president’s Alliance for Climate Protection, Gore and City Hall sources told ABC News. Bloomberg, who dropped from the presidential-race spotlight — at least for now — had used that race to beat the drum for issue-oriented commitments on the part of all the candidates. Now, as the mayor looks to his future, which he has said will include deeper involvement in philanthropy, he is also looking for a new challenge, and an alliance with Gore on environmental issues is an appealing prospect for him. The mayor has launched numerous environmental initiatives in New York City, including proposals to replace the gas-guzzling taxi fleet with more environmentally friendly vehicles, to replace incandescent bulbs with low wattage lighting and to offer incentives for developers who build green buildings. He and Gore met for about an hour beginning at about 1 p.m. Afterward Gore told WABC-TV, our New York affiliate station, "It was a private conversation, but it was at my request to talk to him about efforts to solve the climate crisis. I’ve been a big fan of Mayor Bloomberg’s outspoken advocacy of solving the climate crisis, and we’ve talked several times in the past, and I enjoyed this conversation. It was a private conversation, but [there's] nothing mysterious about it, just ways of working effectively to solve the climate crisis." Gore was asked if there were any political motivations behind the meeting. "Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. I have no comment. Thanks anyway. I am focused on trying to solve the climate crisis,” he said. “Thank you. Great talking to you guys. Bye-bye."

Why the secrecy? Since every man woman and child are affected then why not make it public? See the dems are just as sneaky as the repubs.

I agree with boulderhippie. There’s dirty work afoot. You can’t tell me that two prominent politicians get together behind closed doors to discuss “public” issues and not make it public. I smell a run for the White House, with a Gore/Bloomberg ticket. It’s certainly more palatable choice than what’s currently available from either party.

What secrecy? Can’t two people have a private conversation if they want to? People are really paranoid these days. If they come out with any projects, we’ll here about it soon enough.

Hmmm, a well publicized private meeting. If they are not trying to stir something up then why the TV “no comment”?
I am not paranoid but I really don’t trust politicians. Don’t trust their motives and don’t believe much of what they say. Mostly politics seems to be about money and power – if the population gets something good out of it it’s usually an unforeseen by-product of money and power!
Yeah, I AM cynical about politics.

Andy Clark – I understand your cynicism, but what do you think these two are going to do? Secretly fix global warming without telling you about it? When they actually do something, everyone will know, won’t they. Remember, the Constitutional Convention was kept strictly secret while in porgress as well. Not all secrets are bad, even though I agree that they sometimes can be.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope.

DO I HEAR THIRD PARTY.

Posted by: Captain Saia | March 18, 2008, 9:03 pm 9:03 pm

Are we looking at a Gore/Bloomberg Indie Ticket? If that doesn’t unite the two parties against them… whoa!

Posted by: smartprimate | March 18, 2008, 9:16 pm 9:16 pm

jock59801,
The more I think about it, the meeting wasn’t secret. Lots of people knew about it including abc news. The subject of the meeting is a secret.
I don’t think there is time for a third party to be put in place for the next election. So, the best alternative seems to be an Independent Ticket. Plenty of money for that but what would be gained and by whom?
They probably only met for lunch/coffee and told the media just to get everyone going!

Posted by: Andy Clark | March 18, 2008, 9:34 pm 9:34 pm

Sorry, I didn’t even get the third party angle. Why would anyone think that? Gore has made it very clear he is not running for President. And why would he need a third party when the Democrats were BEGGING him to run as a Democrat a few months ago?

Posted by: jock59801 | March 18, 2008, 9:48 pm 9:48 pm

I’d vote for that ticket..

Posted by: kelly | March 18, 2008, 9:50 pm 9:50 pm

jock59801,
It wouldn’t need to be Gore, what about Bloomberg?
Gore/Bloomberg or Bloomberg/Gore or Bloomberg/????? with Gore in the background somewhere as a “string puller”.
Bill Clinton/Al Gore as a sort of super statesmen set supporting Bloomberg/???

Al Gore is losing his appeal by not standing up and endorsing one of the two Democratic canidates.
Maybe he is too comfortable with his favorable status with the public at this point and doesnt want to risk stirring things up.
However by not being active and taking a stand when the Party needs him, his reputation will be harmed substantially.
America doesnt have time for leaders who play it safe. America needs action, such as what was demonstrated by Ted Kennedy.

That ticket sure would resolve my personal struggle………

Hilarious. Meanwhile the founder of the Weather Channel is moving to file suit (for fraud) against Al Gore. Global warning is a farce.

Al Gore is just trying to cash in on the global warming hoax, just like he tried to do in the 80′s with rock music…if he was so worried abouy music then, why hasn’t he gone after rap artists that have explicit lyrics? Gore is a media ###### looking for attention and how he can cash in…wait till John Coleman tears him apart in court…hopefully Gore will have to pay back everything he has made under false pretenses…..

Wow. It is interesting that the denialists are putting a lot of faith in this John Coleman stunt. The guy isn’t even a scientist. Somehow I don’t think that one non-scientist sueing another non-scientist within a non-scientific judicial system is a very good way to resolve matters of SCIENCE.

They’re all nothing but a bunch of poseurs. I think it’s all being done in the name of publicity.

I would welcome them in the rsce, they
would get my vote,if HILARY,does not get

Do any of you realy believe that global warming is not real? I agree it may not be as extreme as some make it, but it is real. Gore doesn’t have the backbone to run for Pres again, he’s still licking his wounds from the last time.

The Late Great USA if any of the Dem’s get elected for whatever reason!………

Denhof, you must be an Obama fan. Ted Kennedy–a dead giveaway. Gore must believe that all the people should vote, and they haven’t voted, yet.

Denhof, his reputation will be harmed subtantially? Good, God, Almighty! The man is the “real genius”. Americans lost a lot in 2000.

Denhof, some people are really desperate.

Weird Al Gore and his pal, David Rothschild spew reams of environmental gibberish while they drop tons of depleted uranium which has destroyed Earth’s atmosphere. The big secret is that the damage done can’t be fixed. Human beings on Earth are finished. But I can guarantee Gore and his banker buddies will try to collect breathing taxes until the end of life on Earth.

Posted by: friend | April 13, 2008, 11:28 pm 11:28 pm

Yes, there’s no mention of depleted uranium, chem trails or GM Terminator seeds.
He and the environmentalists also refuse to acknowledge and help those afflicted with Agent Orange, Gulf War Syndrome and MCS (multiple chemical sensitivity)….Instead, they let Lamestream Media either ignore us or discredit us every once in a while by declaring we’re all psychosomatic lazy malingerers or have unresolved psych issues. However, they who declare this are not psychiatrists/psychologists and thereare are not qualified.
Not once have they investigated Martin Pall’s work that we might have problems with either low or missing enzymes such as Paraoxenase and/or Cholinesterase and also CNS (Central nervous system) involvement. Also, MCS people usually have a dramatcally increased sense of smell. ..This might be due to a damaged blood-barrier barrier.
Even the 9/11 rescue workers, surrounding workers and people living downwind were assured by (Christine Todd Whitman of the EPA) that the air was okay. So, why did she lie about it?
Al Gore & the environmentalists are deafeningly silent on these issues.

I also wonder if this has anything to do with Agenda 21.

Don’t trust Gore as far as I can throw him! That man is positioning himself to be president without having to bother with campaigning again. People seem to forget he had his chance to serve his country and failed miserably. His bid to become the ‘climate crisis’ guru is so transparent its embarrassing, can’t believe you suckers are falling for it! Wake UP!

This is about how to get Hilary out of the democratic nomination and clear the way for fascist policies to be implemented in the US.
Al Gore is a British agent.
