A Videoblogger to Watch

Want to know the next Web-to-TV network deal to watch?

Then keep an eye on videoblogger Brigitte Dale, who’s now producing reports for ABCfamily.com.

If you want to know why this deal matters, check out the New Media Minute.

You’ll also learn how cable networks  such as the Discovery Channel and small businesses like Embarq  use their YouTube channels in innovative and smart ways.

(ABCfamily, like ABC News, is a division of the Walt Disney Company.)

Daisy Whitney is a reporter for TelevisionWeek and the host and creator of the weekly Web show “The New Media Minute” on the business of online video. You can and should follow her on Twitter at www.twitter.com/DaisyWhitney, where she holds regular contests for Web video creators to have their work reviewed in TVWeek.

Very interesting, especially the bit about Embarq. Wicked smart.

(Audible sigh). I fear for Brigitte Dale. I’ve always enjoyed her whimsical vlogs, first on TV Squad and then her own website, but look what happened to Rocketboom sensation Amanda Congdon. She was co-opted by The Mouse and it was not a happy marriage. While no one can begrudge Brigitte her success in scoring an agent and a network contract, I have to admit my heart sank a little when I saw the ABC logo above her byline. Especially ABC’s logo. But if her new arrangement lands her a seat on The View next to Whoopie, or a role as a cool guidance counsellor in High School Musical 8, it will be worth it.
