It is a cool place, though I haven't been there in years. Last time I went there was to speak with the curator of the Titanic exhibit, back when the Titanic was huge in pop culture. Blame Leo and Kate for that one. I was looking to loan a book to them. Printed in 1912, it was the first book written about the sinking of the Titanic. It was passed down to me from my great grandmother, who, if I'm not mistaken, had a relative die as a result of the sinking. As it turned out, they had a book there, it was the same, though the binding was in better shape, the printed plate on the cover was in worse shape than mine, and had a red cloth hardcover, mine is a dark green. A neat thing however, in the back of the book, a passenger list exists, which contains the names of the dead. My book still contains it, I don't think there's did.

Hello, Lawrence. In fact, we included the Mariners Museum in one of our pieces, since they were the ones in charge of conservation of the Monitor's turret and other artifacts. Cool place, I agree.

Ned, if you think looking at the Monitor in Google Earth was cool, you need to go to Newport News, VA. To the Mariners Museum. There, they have the turret from the Monitor, along with many other artifacts from the ship. Plus a full size mock-up of the turret as well. Thanks for the info on the new Google Earth though. I too have been waiting for the oceans to be filled in.
