Where Is Online Video a No-No?
Is the bathroom verboten for watching online video?
How do you actually pronounce user-generated content to sound cool? And what’s the secret sauce that makes Web video a different beast than TV?
Daisy Whitney sent Lori Harfenist, the New York correspondent for the New Media Minute, to interview digital executives at ABC, MTV and Fancast on those pressing issues. Here’s what they had to say.

Quite interesting. Wish it was a little longer. Would like to hear more of how these large media types view the net and the “new media”. Nevertheless these little sound bites are quite good and insightful. Good job ladies!

Good show. Quick, easy, to the point. I’m not sure I could get away with watching UGC at the dinner table. Family probably would not appreciate that.

Great info, Daisy! I always watch the New Media Minute!

Good points all, Daisy. The idea that online media can’t be enjoyed everywhere is one that is being challenged everyday. The sheer fact that, as the interviewee mentioned, UGC is less mediated, more easily accessed, means that we’ll have to experience it in those fleeting minutes that come between some of the bigger events, in day to day life.

This is a lot of fun!
My sentiments echo those of others here, though…I wish it were the New Media Five (or Ten) Minutes. :)

Good report as usual. I like that you now have a corespondent in NY. Almost like ABC.

Good segment — funny about UGC…people need to remember that it’s not always the silver bullet, but a great addition to other content types. Fun stuff…keep it up!

What interesting questions – I’ll be sure to keep up on my online video etiquette from now on!

Good episode. It’s very interesting that the major media companies are taking UGC seriously. We saw what happened when major media entered podcasting.
A lot of indie podcasts got swept away (especially on the iTunes charts). But the ones that remained stepped up their game and now seem to compete on more equal footing with the big boys. I wonder if we’ll see something similar happen in the video field?

Informative and fun. I wish it was a bit longer too though, would have liked to have heard more from the Disney Grand Poobah on incorporating that ‘fourth wall’. But if it was longer I guess it wouldnt’ be a new media ‘minute’!

I love Daisy Reports, on the NMM. Twim. AS a member of the media, I’ve learned a lot from her and the likes of Alex Lindsay. Keep it up guys.

Snappy and quick always like New Media Minute, though with so much media news out there and Daisy’s enjoyable personality I could easily have more with “New Media five”… :)
