iPhone TV: Too Much of a Good Thing?

Television networks, Web shows and movie studios alike are rushing to develop iPhone apps, but could we be approaching app burnout?

Daisy Whitney asks that question in the New Media Minute. This week alone, iPhone users can play with new apps from History Channel, the Web site DadLabs.com and the movie “Top Gun.”

This episode also digs into who’s winning online video ad dollars, a smart new initiative from multimedia studio Generate and Daisy’s newest Web project.

Whitney will be hosting a spoof vampire news report for Take180.com — and you can get all the details in the New Media Minute.

Can’t wait until the handhelds connect to each other and you are watching video on two synchronized screens. That is the holy grail of personalized media

I got live TV (including live news) on my LG VU and it is the first app that I was ever interested in other than trading stocks.

There are two kinds of iPhone apps – useful ones that people will keep forever – and fun ones that are throwaway.

Daisy, People will ultimately seek out a healthy way to consume media. One that doesn’t have a person spend the majority of their precious time staring at a display. . . big or small.
There will always be individuals who are insatiable in a neurotic sort of way, but for most folks, less is more. The key is to develop relationships with a small palate of tech stuff that enriches our lives, and politely ignoring the rest.
