When people give numerous repeat warnings, it would be foolish for one not to heed them. In this case, this man, Marius, was warned repeatedly not to keep this hippo as a pet as hippos are very dangerous. He must have realized his error of disregarding the warnings too late, once that hippo turned on him. It’s very sad he had to learn the hard way, paying with his life.

This was just a matter of time! You cannot domesticate a wild animal like a Hippo. Some people just never learn.

I don’t understand why people just don’t get it! I don’t care if you fought a war with the Taliban your not going to domesticate a WILD animal!

This news is old. It was published a couple weeks ago in my country and the man was killed not because of the hippo dragged him down the river, but the man was thrown down while he was riding the hippo in the river. There is a YouTube video, but it ended which the man was on the hippo’s back.

Food chain? Hippos are vegetarians. They don’t kill to eat, like we do, they kill out of territorial aggression. Food chain is out of place here. Think of a rabbit with a mouth bigger than your torso and huge teeth and the bulk of a couple of bulls. But they don’t care for fish, fowl or meat, just greens. They don’t like being bothered however and they are used to living in a tough neighborhood, think Nile Crocs and lions to start with.
