I am disappointed in ABC news, and other mainstream media. They have a vested interest in maintaining the wishes of their corporate bosses and so are not reporting on the TRUE reasons behind the push for SOPA and PIPA. There are other ways to stop actual piracy. What they want to do with these two bills will effectively censor freedom of speech and user-generated content. They are trying to make an end run around "Fair Use", which is a time-honored right of Americans. Media corporations are trying to get perpetual copyright, rather than the limited copyright that has been traditional since copyright laws began. Trademark laws are becoming more and more ridiculous. This is what is TRULY behind these bills-- an effort to strangle the free interchange of ideas.

They need to report on ALL the issues and not on simply the parts their bosses want them to.

Can you feel the Power?
People Power?

We can change the world. No, it's not anarchy- just fairness.

I can make a superb box!
Someone else sings a song. How is they can make millions with that song but my box, although well admired, has little value.

@ RalphF
this protest obviously had some effect since several senators have backed down after the protest and it encouraged people to contact their reps and protest this. and if protest signs don't change anything what do you call all of the marches on washington throughout the 1900s that actually made a difference. this is no different except for the fact that this was an electronic protest where many more people could participate.

Going dark was a stupid strategy...and from a website that is supposed to be smart...Firefox did it right if you used Firefox. You don't change things in Washington by holding up a protest sign or taking your own website down...how stupid can you be? You have to understand how Washington works and to get change, you have to lobby your representatives...that's how it's done. The two bills were never going to make it to the floor regardless, but Wikipedia will surely take credit for that...
