We can all make a difference, one small change at a time. As helicohunter mentioned, driving less by combining errands (or walking more which is good for you!), turning off lights and turning down the thermostat (the programmable thermostats let you set it and forget it) all help save you money and lessens the amount of pollution we create. Buying more local and less foreign made products will help, as transporting goods uses a lot of fossil fuel. It will also help our economy, by creating jobs here at home!

Ice is also retreating in antarctica and ocean currents have shifted. As a scientist, I can tell you that climate change is REAL science, not political science. It's true that warming and cooling trends have occurred in the past, but those changes occurred slowly over thousands of years- not in 100 years. Scientists are competitive and are happy to disprove someone else's pet hypothesis. Well-designed experiments are not subject to the researcher's beliefs or opinions. Many scientists have set out to prove global warming wrong, but have failed to find evidence to contradict it. Global warming has been studied by every imaginable method, from genetic changes in wheat over time to ice cores to tree rings. If thousands of scientists in numerous countries reach the same conclusions, you'd be wise to pay attention. Think you can't make a difference? Simple things like driving less, turning off lights, and lowering your thermostat make a difference
