It isn't going to advance our society just because we have more diamond jewelry to wear. Once you add the markup because of shipping cost to bring diamonds from another planet, no one would be able to afford them anyway. It's likely that our Sun , having a similar composition and mass , will eventually end up this way as well as it slowly dies out .
