March 8, 2011— -- Kate stepped out in Northern Ireland today clad in a classic coat for her surprise visit to Belfast with Prince William. She wore a knee-length ecru trench with gunmetal-colored buttons and a flaired hemline made by Burberry.

An excited crowd cheered on the couple as they flipped flapjacks. Shrove Tuesday, the day before Lent, is sometimes called "Pancake Tuesday" because, traditionally, people often used up their sugar, milk and eggs by making pancakes before fasting during Lent.

Gloria Lowry of Carrickfergus told the Associated Press, "My little heart is beating 90 to the dozen after meeting Kate. She is absolutely beautiful and William so handsome. They make a perfect couple."

The princess-to-be is showing a penchant for British designers on her walkabouts. In her visit with Prince William to Anglesey, Wales, two weeks ago, she donned a Katherine Hooker London herringbone coat and a feathered fascinator by Vivien Sheriff Millinery.
