When HBO's "Girls" premiered last year, its young stars shot to fame, including Christopher Abbott, the 20-something who plays the sweet boyfriend of Allison Williams' character Marnie. But as the cast gears up for the production of season three, a rep for the network confirms that Abbott will not be returning to the show.

According to the New York Post's Page Six, "Chris is at odds with [series creator] Lena [Dunham]. He didn't like the direction things are going in, which seems a bit odd, since the show put him on the map."

Abbott's rep, however, tells Page Six a different story. "[Chris] is grateful for the experience … but right now he's working on numerous other projects and has decided not to return to the show."
